I'm more worried about a scouting department that puts a top ten grade on an offensive lineman who's play would draw laughter in a high school film room.

Meh...he exectutes some combo blocks with ease that not many players in NFL can. His feet and what they allow him to do are special. However, it is tough to project how "big man on small campus" will react to facing adversity for the first time in his career. Look at DRC. Special talent, but that is a guy who never needed to perfect his craft, and his career reflects his unwillingness to start. Maybe it clicks and maybe it doesn't. In the end, it is up to Cooper to determine how much he is willing to commit to his NFL career and what level of player he wants to be.

No, no obsession here...not at all

It's not about evaluating Cooper's play any more for K9. He's done that on countless threads (nice try saying he's only started 1--he's obsessed about it on many threads).

We get it. You don't like the player, don't think he's a good player, and are on the cusp of calling him a bust. You've done your homework and provided analysis about it. Why in the world do you have to harp and harp and harp and harp and...sorry, I'd need about twenty more of those to represent your harping about him lol

I'm perfectly happy to sit back and watch to see if he develops into either a solid pro or an all pro, or if he indeed busts. You're going to do your damndest to ram your opinion down everyone's throats. You started this thread specifically to troll, no doubt about it. You even admitted it with your tongue-in-cheek comment early in this thread.

So every time you start whining about Cooper, I'm going to come on and call you out for it. I mean, are you Tango or the deer? At least clarify that for me.

I don't see it this way at all. I see a great discussion & analysis of a football player on the Arizona Cardinals Football Team. It seems like every disagreement about a player on here turns to someone calling the other a troll or saying they are obsessed. Why can't we just debate a play or player without it turning into a pissing match?

Turning around and looking at what's happened behind you is not the posture of someone who DIDN'T screw up. It's also not the posture of 99.9% of professional offensive linemen--particularly in the middle of a play.

Whether or not Cooper was supposed to block Quinn after the snap is really immaterial. The problem is that Cooper didn't block anyone for an entire running play. What are the instincts of an offensive lineman when, not facing someone immediately in front of him, the choice is to become a spectator instead of looking for a body of a defensive back or linebacker to plow into?

So you're judging him on 1 play? Pretty harsh don't you think? My guess is that 100% of all offensive linemen who have played this game has screwed up at least 100 times. To be a guard is pretty simple(unless it's a specialized play like a sweep or trap). You block by the OIL method. That means you block the player Over you, Inside of you, or the Linebacker. And when the defense is stunting, you have a split second to make a decision. If you think it's so easy, be my guess and give it a try.

Again, I say, give the kid a break. He's played 3 games(essentially) in his career and is still finding his feet. If you expected Russ Grimm right out of the gate then you set your sights too high.

Nope. I'm judging him on all the plays that I've watched and reviewed multiple times following the games. I'm using this illustration because AZCardinals.com provided the video of a specific play that ended up a positive while Cooper contributed--at best--nothing.

You chose the wrong play to help build your weak case...

We all expected a lot more from Cooper than what we've got. At this POINT IN TIME.

I hope he turns out to be the Dan Williams of the offensive line. If you look back at how Williams did his first couple of seasons he looked like a shaky pick. Now, he's a stud and has blown up the blocking on multiple 3rd and 4th and shorts this season.

Cooper's career isn't over. Yes, he has had some poor plays. He has also had some good ones. He has, what, two damn starts? Yeah we all wish he was great by now. However, he is far from a hopeless case. He is probably the most physically talented of all our oline. As he plays more, he will play better. I have confidence in our coaching staff right now.

I am sure there are plenty of plays where Cooper is really at fault, but this doesn't seem like one of them.

The play starts with Laurantis standing in Coopers gap and Quinn wide of Veldheer. To suggest that Cooper ought to have ignored the player standing in front of him and blocked a stunting DE who was headed for the gap between the center and the right guard just isn't realistic, or, likely his responsibility.

LOL Stout calls you out and that is all you got to say? Your hatred towards certain Cardinal players is the most inconsequential drivel I have seen lately.

I get that K9 can come across a bit harsh in his criticism at times. Chalk it up to poor style or whatever but the IMHO he provides fantastic information and insight at a ridiculous rate. Great articles and insight and thought provoking posts and articles.

For so many to get so upset over a video clip that Cooper won't show to his own kids and hopes they never see it seems a bit ...... Oh hell I don't know. Yes Karma and (IMO I) explained why Cooper looked like a monkey humping a football on that play but the fact remains it was one he would like to forget.

Cooper is better than Snyder and will be better than just about any OG we have had in the past ten years. That doesn't chance the fact that as the 7th overall pick in the 2014 draft he has vastly under performed at this point. SK put the spin out that while losing Coop last year wasn't a good thing the positive is it will be like getting 2 first rd picks in 2014. Well Bucannon has done his part but Cooper can't get on the field unless one of the STARTERS is hurt.
