So his argument is that he didn't take the drug for performance enhancement reasons. He just popped a molly that just so happened to be cut with amphetamines. He wants us to know that he wasn't cheating and because of that he shouldn't be suspended.

As happened with Cowboys cornerback Orlando Scandrick, pure MDMA wouldn’t have triggered a violation under the PED policy. The presence of amphetamines resulted in a one-strike, four-game suspension.

Good point, Molly basically puts holes in your brain, it has to be the worst choice ever for someone with such a concussion history.

Yep. Four games is usually for a second offense.

First offense as this falls under the PED path, not the substance abuse path

It's the amphetamine portion in the drug that hit positive and is banned under the PED program - automatic 4 games out the gate

It does, but since MDMA breaks down differently than other amphetamines, the level of amphetamines left in the urine are usually too low to trigger a standard amphetamine test. Most drug tests also check for MDMA, but the NFL doesn't use those tests, since MDMA isn't on their banned substances list.

At least that's how I understand the situation.

When you google MDMA it says it IS an amphetamine so how can he complain he tested positive for one when he admits he took one?

Thanks, I had to google it again after reading that. Apparently the distinction is "adulterations", in pure ecstasy they're not present, in cut ecstasy they are. Pure ecstasy won't trigger the NFL test, cut will, so he took ecstasy he just didn't know it had "adulterations".

Not buying it but I learned something new, it's an amphetamine either way but it's only banned if it has "adulterations."
