With Washington specifically, there's no excusing what he did. It's against the rules, he knows it, he broke them, he should be punished accordingly... (just to get this out of the way, so nobody misconstrues my post as defending his actions. Because I am not. There is no defending knowingly breaking rules that you JUST broke a year ago. It's incredibly stupid)
that said. I don't see why the NFL tests for it to begin with. It's legal across the board in 2 states (ironically the 2 that just played in the Super Bowl), and is legal with doctor approval in many others. At least the last 3 Presidents of the United States have admitted to smoking pot. It has no performance enhancing benefits. Many doctors feel the benefits outweigh the risks, to the point that toddlers have even been recommended MMJ. The Washington case is over and done, but it's something I wouldn't mind seeing the league reevaluate going forward

The debate regarding the health effects of pot has been going on a long time. From what I've seen, the individual personality combines with the pot for the eventual outcome. I know people who smoke and are engaged in full creative lives and living responsibly. I also know those who had their backbone turn into jelly and are mashed potato lumps living in their Mom's spare bedroom.
The effects of pot are really a separate issue from DW's situation. When you sign on to any job, there are employer stipulations on what you can and cannot do to stay employed. Go to work flipping hamburgars and the health code doesn't allow you to chew gum (it ends up in the food along with your saliva as you chew) and you can't wear elaborate jewelry (it finds it's way into the soup). DW knew he shouldn't be 'chewing gum' and was fully aware of the consequences. Unlike the person working in the restaurant, he was being paid a whole lot of money to abide by the employer demands. If he didn't like the rules, be like Ricky Williams and quit and don't take the money. Also, don't put your teammates at a disadvantage because they were counting on you to uphold the terms of your contract and be there when they needed you to perform.

Kind of a different question for the topic. We have seen executives suspended for failing to remain sober. Question is: What will happen to Jim Irsay for getting busted for pain killers by the police?
he didn't just get busted with pain killers. What he was caught with makes him look like he's a dealer, but it makes no sense. Will be interesting to see

He was holding a suitcase full of hundreds of Vicodins or something. In reality, he was probably on his way to the locker room with this week's candy supply.
I heard he had thousands of pills, not hundreds, and then like $50K. That would be enough for an average Joe to see their car seized and auctioned

Just thought of something that is very fitting.
So now that Daryl Washington has completely thrown his career out the window, he gets to be constantly reminded of how he threw it all away when his legacy goes from potentially being one of the better linebackers of the modern era, especially for the Cardinals.
To being known as a poster boy for the new CBA substance abuse policies, and this:

When will ever learn that it would be better to help this kid, rather than abandon him. He has a problem it seems with authority figures rather than drugs. Anyone today who considers MJ a class 3 drug, really has their head up their ass. Guy's some NFL doctors do prescribe MJ to players if they get injured. The real reason MJ is illegal is to to the LIQURE LOBBIES. Yes those 1% re's. Yes and also the Drug companies.
So please lets all grow-up and stop complaining about his problem with Pot. Hell ISSRAY got 8 games Max for driving DRUNK with $29,000.00 in cash to buy more drugs. So who is less at fault. Goddel must go he has soon me that he is in the owners pockets, not helping the players.
Oh i forgot about the private Prisons in our state who really benefit from incarceration rates due to POT. Just ask our Governor Jan Brewer, and Russell Pierce. they are part owners in those prisoners. BOBCAT

We are long past trying to help this kid. I hope the Cards don't ever bring him back, talented or not.
The better question is why do you want someone back that can't follow the rules and continually lets down coaches, owners, teammates, and fans?

Lol. My kind? Is this racist? Are you criticizing my left of center views? You clearly know nothing of me. That's why I will just laugh instead of being offended.
Most of us have given up on him. We are pissed off that we just gave this bum 10M for him to be suspended the entire season, and then again in 2015.

Yes I know technically he hasn't received any of that money yet. The point still stands.
For the record, I have been banned several times here, but I still some how have the support of many, but we all know I don't put my head in the sand like D-weed does. I keep my head in the clouds.
