Lomax to Green 84
Hall of Famer
Wolfley and Urban have nailed the top pick the last couple of years. Very interesting analysis by Wolfley regarding Hughes. Sorry, don't have time to post the link. It's on the Cards website.

Brandon Graham reminds me a lot more of Woodley but he'll be long gone before the #26 spot.
Hughes rushes effectively from the strongside (as does Woodley), so that reference seems to make more sense given that we have the potential of Cody Brown on the weakside.
Incidentally where do you see Stevie Baggs (somebody you like if my memory serves me correctly) line-up if he succeeds at camp and gets into the team at some point during the season? He is somebody im hoping will be a pleasant surprise so im hoping you can enlighten us a bit about what he's like as ive not seen anything from him apart from the bits of youtube footage.
Baggs won't line up anywhere if we draft another OLB. I don't mean to sound off on you, it just seems as though many on this board have no understanding of the fact that there are roster limits in the NFL. Those who are predicting that we take multiple OLBs just have no clue as to what they're talking about. Furthermore, if we don't take one in the first 2 rounds, we won't take one at all. Quite honestly, if we can't have Hughes or Graham, or if McClain or Weatherspoon are available, I think and hope we will ignore anyone else at the position.

Not when there are needs at WILB and NT like there are MD. I get what you are saying in that Stevie Baggs wouldn't cause them to pass on a guy they really love at OLB, but the only guys they draft in the 1st round are going to be ILB or NT IMHO because of the dramatic need to insert 1st round talent into those positions.
I actually am on the DJ bandwagon and think they will draft Kindle and move him inside because of his diverse skillset.
Remember there are some on this board who wanted to make Dansby a OLB year after year. Kindle has a similar skill set IMO.

I dont think anybody is suggesting we take multiple OLB's
I wasn't saying that at all. I was saying that unless there is an OLB that we absolutely LOVE siiting there at 26 and McClain and Weatherspoon are gone, I do not think we'll go OLB. The need there isn't half as bad as many of the know-nothings on this board and in the media paint it to be. I feel pretty confident in saying that our first round pick will be McClain, Weatherspoon, Lee, Wilson, Haden or McCourty. I think Stevie Baggs, Cody Brown, Mark Washington and Will Davis will absolutely keep the team from drafting any OLB who we don't think we seriously contend for a starting spot from Day 1.

Really,?? It seems 2/3's of all the mocks I see either from folks here or in the media have us taking multiple OLBs.
1. Baggs rushed from the strongside in the CFL
2. He is practice squad eligible.

No chance. I will bet you anything you like that there is a zero chance of this happening.
No he doesn't and no they wont. I don't mean to be rude, but sometimes you have to consider the source. Look who was for and who was opposed to moving Dansby. I'll take joeschmoe, k9, Bill Parcells and Ken Whisenhunt's opinions over that of Mitch and DJ any day of the week.
I'm with ya bud but here is my point. If Weatherspoon or McClain isn't there, I see them going best available NT, or a tackle that drops, or even corner. Or then a trade down if nothing else. I just feel like the team has positioned themselves so they could leave OLB off the draft board this year all together.
I am not going to pretend to know very much about the nuances of what makes a great WILB but Kindle reminds me alot of Dansby in college. Thats speaking purely from just watching games of them both so you maybe right.
And my point about Dansby being a rushing OLB is that he has the speed and skills to do it, but his strengths made him a much better WILB. I think although it doesn't appear that way, Kindle could too. In fact isn't that what he played while Orapko was playing the predator position in '09?
But I don't pretend to be Joeschmoe, K9, or Wiz on that kind of stuff. I am just throwing it out there.
I seriously hope that Mark Washington has no bearing on anything the Cards do in this draft. Guy's an undrafted scrub. If there's an OLB prospect anywhere in the draft, don't let Mark Washington talk you out of taking him.
Ali Highsmith and Reggie Walker certainly aren't discouraging me from taking Brandon Spikes or another mid-round SILB.
I kind of like Kindle. Brian Orakpo was a good LB for Washington last year.![]()
