My own version
1. Garcia's in the right system to make noise. No issue there.
2. Sorgi lives and breathes his system and the Colts have never tried to replace him. Say hello to Gary Kubiak part 2.
3. Vick can come off the bench and string together some wins, you just don't want his inconsistency for the entire season, but did the time off hurt his physical madness?
4. Derek Anderson is too low and a lot of the offensive issues didn’t start or end with him.
5. Sage is underrated by many and most people focus on his most recent lowlight.
6. I love Seneca, but I think he's a little overrated on Banks list (both he and Sage are IA State guys, coincidentally). I thought with some seasoning he would be a starter. He may be still, but like Garcia it’s West-coast or bust.
7. Redman has a star crossed path, but the last time he started he put together a pretty good run. If something happens to Ryan the Falcons aren’t lost.
8. Culpepper probowl height, blooper reel depth. Another year healthier shouldn’t hurt, nor does having Calvin Johnson.
9. Henne has looked great in limited action and will make a strong case to be a starter.
10. Billy Volek did well off the Titans bench back in the day hooking up with the now-done Drew Bennett for some sick deep ball yards. Playing in the QB-friendly Norv Turner offense will keep that production up.
11. Leinart, Banks may have knocked Matt’s consistency, which is true to an extent, but throwing for 400+ in a game your rookie season means you can play at the level. Spending as much time in the offensive system as he has doesn’t hurt either.
12. Troy Smith (from that dammed Ohio St) is a guy who deserves more time but won’t get it.
13-14. It's hard to say where Kitna's at physically, the same for Simms (but for different reasons). Both are too high on Banks’ list.
15. Clemmens showed a bit here and there, but couldn’t lock down a starting job.
16. Batch is one of the toughest old birds ever. But I can't not see him as a Lion, which doesn't help him.
17. Boller has an incredibly strong arm and good mobility, but just couldn’t seem to get it together in BAL. I don’t know if his situation is any better in St.L, but he could win and look just good enough to create a controversy.
18. Croyle it’s hard to say how Croyle’s really been doing. KC’s had all kinds of issues, but I’ve heard he’s been having a pretty good camp. I’m not sure just how good ‘good’ is, but he’s a one-time starter with the physical tools to win a game off the bench.
19. Carr his shell-shocking from the Texans is legendary, no one was sacked more in that span, and his brief stopover with the Panthers wasn’t much better, but he showed some recovery in limited action with New York but still has to get the ball out faster.
20. Walter he gets a break by being a Patriot, the Patriots didn’t get a break signing him. Remember Rohan Davey?
21. Flynn could be pretty good one day, but he’s still pretty young and raw. He’s got to forget most of what got him by in college.
22. Fitzpatrick was completely underwhelming with the Bengals. He surprised a lot of people as a Ram a few years ago, but was quickly figured out.
23. Brunell, aside from a one-year aberration with the Skins, his arm has been cooked for a while, but he’d still try to place it as if he had something left.
24-25. Bros. McCown Luke’s got better stats, but Josh has better athleticism. Neither appears to be able to take what they have very far.
26-27. Collins and Bouman are practically the same guy. Both old timers. Collins’ recent success in Washington should probably put him higher on the list, but you should see some of Brennan’s games last preseason (I’ve not gotten the chance to watch him this year yet).
28. Orlovsky needs to be lower I watched him orchestrate a lot of train wreck last year.
30. Young looks like he can’t run a pro system and can’t run the option system the coaches installed for him. He flashes occasionally, but doesn’t seem to do enough of anything well enough to look like he can stay in the league (he’s fast, but not fast enough, he can throw, but not with supreme accuracy or velocity).
31. O’Sullivan barely a backup and one of those times when the vaunted Martz system didn’t produce a star.
32. Hanie not enough information to elevate him.
