Do you live anywhere near Phoenix? If so, PM a location where we can meet, so I can elbow you in the Solar Plexus and/or your lower ribcage. Let's see how you feel.

BTW, just so we're clear: You don't "protect" yourself from a screen with the sharp end of your elbow aimed at the screener's sensitive areas. You use a forearm, *******.

Is this a Phoenix thing? People just like to threaten others with acts they are never going to carry out?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPoXuZaxZTM (yeah, that wasn't the forearm).

EDIT: Please don't hurt me, I am warning you, I can almost cry as loud as Stoudemire.

No, its not just a Phoenix thing. It was a semi-threat IMO. Either way, still not needed.

Hey, I couldn't find the instructional video on leg whips or planting your foot under jump shooters.

The defender in the video didn't lead with an elbow once. I think he was doing it wrong. The announcer did say to do ANYTHING to help get a teammate an open look at the basket. He just forgot to apply that principle to defense. Maybe the Bowen Foundation can create an instructional video....you know, for kids.

I bet you that David Robinson is rolling over in his grave.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPoXuZaxZTM

Yeah, Bowen is leading with his elbow REAL good in this one. He aimed it elbow so precisely that he knew exactly how long it will take Stoudemire to recover as well. Notice how Stoudemire is all of a sudden fine and able to "charge" at him the second the whistle was blow, and had enough strength to argue with the ref.

EDIT: Listen to Hubie Brown, he was saying how Bowen was using his FOREARM, and anyone would do that to protect himself. He further added that he was surprised Stoudemire didn't do anything to protect himself.

Not as embarrassing as your team giving nba fans even more ammo to call them dirty. You obviously have self-esteem issues.

What are you trying to do here? Convince Suns fans that Bowen isn't dirty? Give me a break! Everyone knows he's a punk. No one respects or watches your team. Thats if they even know who the Spurs are.

Oh, I am sure the Suns with their ratings are the rightful champions of the world. It hurts so much, I am SURE all the players on the Spurs would trade all their rings for being the whiny darlings of the NBA.

In case you missed the point, which you obviously did, if you want to argue Bowen is dirty, this incident is not evidence. This incident is good evidence that Stoudmire whines an unusually high amount for somebody who is as physically intimidating as he is.

It wasn't legit, and he was called for a foul. What was the problem?

So as long as a foul is called it's OK that he tries to intentionally injure players?

If you run into a screen you can't throw a forearm. Throwing your forearm is no different than simply running the guy screening over. The only way Amare could have defended himself was by blocking the forearm, which would have turned into an offensive foul.

I can't stand people who complain about the refs. I'm sure I have ticked off a number of people telling them to jsut deal with the calls. I openly mock the tinfoil hat theory that the league wants the Spurs to win.

I don't know why the league ingnores Bowens's actions but they are wrong. Go take a look at Youtube "Bruce Bowen" there you will find video after video where Bruce Bowen is involved in a dangerous collision that either ends up in an injury; or a scary moment.

He's a low talent hack that survives by being incredibly dirty. He's the master of being "clumsy" at just the right moment.

Hey, but we do love all those shots of Eva during the games. Maybe ABC should just cancel all Spurs games and show re-runs of "Desperate Housewives" instead.

I gather that there is a poster in here who, despite several angles and in real time AND slow motion, doesn't see Bruce Bowen intentionally hitting Amare Stoudemire in the chest with Bowen's forearm including but not limited to the elbow.

I imagine part of the defense of Bowen includes ridiculous theories like "If Stoudemire was really hurt, how can he go after Bowen or complain to the ref?"

Just look at the facts. It's on the video. When you're done, look at Bowen tripping Nash. Though NOT seeing that may make your head explode.

If people want to go into childish rants and resort to cheap shots, I am not above it. But if you want to talk basketball and look objectively at that Bowen "elbow" go ahead. Look at the youtube radio, listen to Hubie Brown talk about it. NOBODY posted the video, NOBODY mentioned what Brown said. I came in here and pointed out the obvious, and I am acting like a troll?

I admit I am being sarcastic in my tone, but it's not like the actions of other Suns posters have indicated that this sort of tone is not tolerated on this board. If it is, it seems to only apply to non-Suns fans.

You're not a troll, you're just misinformed if you think throwing an elbow into a screen isn't a foul and isn't a cheap shot. It's not like he lowered his shoulder or they collided body to body. Bowen saw Amare and tossed his forearm up to land a nice elbow strike.

Hubie's suggestion was that Amare defend himself, well he was already defending his nuts (Bowne's favorite target) and had he blocked the forearm it wouuld have been an offensive foul.

Note to DCR - this is not troll behaviour at all. I am sure you condone such behaviour, and any attempts to respond is acting like a troll and definitely bannable offense.

Note to dsf - Ohhh..... Eva smack. I can tell you are definitely an environmentalist, you recycle the same "arguments" millions of times over.

Yeah, the Spurs are boring, floppers, cheaters, dirty. I prefer the Suns way where they lose with grace and whine to the media afterwards. I think I will become a Suns fan one day, claim there is a consipiracy towards my favourite team, call anybody who eliminated my favourite team cheaters, and make fun of those who support teams that the Suns have eliminated two years in a row.

Hey - Amchang HAS admitted that Bowen kicking ray Allen was wrong, but he seems to still think the flying kick to Wally's face was legit....

Wait. Is someone suggesting that Hubie Brown, who is 300 years old and doesn't have NEARLY the same close-up, multi-angled big-screen view that we have at home, thinks Bowen didn't hit Stoudemire with an elbow to the chest?

I listened to the video. Hubie explains that Bowne commited a foul by throwing the forearm but that Stoudemire should have defended himself. I think what the 75 year old man is letting slip his mind is that Bowen is notorious for going for the nuts, which is what Stoudemire was protecting.

Now your turn. Explain to us please how throwing an elbow into a screener isn't a foul. Tell us how when you play basketball pickup games people throw forearms into chests all the time; and no one complains about them being cheap shots.

Wait. Is someone suggesting that Hubie Brown, who is the best teacher in the history of the sport and only a few years removed from a headcoaching job that took the Grizzlies to the playoffs, cannot see what we saw at court side AND with multi-angled big screen view that they have on premise?

Can you really not see that Bowen through his elbow into Stoudemire?

Thats a foul and a dirty one at that. Save you energy, because its quite obvious to anyone who isn't completely ignorant to the rules of the NBA that Bowen was wrong and Stoudemire was right.

Bruce is lucky Amare kept his cool. A lesser person might have given Bowen whats been coming to him.

The guy in the instructional video you posted doesn't even do it! In the video, and in instances with players who are NOT cheap shot artists, the defender tries to slip AROUND the screen, he doesn't CAUSE contact with an elbow to the chest. And don't use Hubie Brown as your defense. Look at it with your own eyes. Better yet, find someone who isn't a Spurs fan or a Suns fan.

I imagine part of the defense of Stoudemire includes ridiculous theories like "if Stoudemire is a whiner, how come he only whines to the ref every game, and to the media every 3 weeks?"

Let's see the whining to the media. Come on now. I want you to post several incidents of Stoudemire whining to the media, and I want to see them 3 weeks apart. Let's see 'em. As far as whining to the refs, I'd much rather see him call attention to the cheap shots than letting them go.

So according to you; everything Hubie says is biblical truth?

Like, how accoridng to Hubie with Shaq on the floor the Suns have the best defense in the league? No? That doesn't count?

Suns fans are a different breed where we tend to rely on facts as we observe them, instead of facts as they are told to us. The video evidence is pretty clear on Bowen's behaivor. Focusing on the ONE incident when there are several more examples in the game really just proves our point.

Your entire arguement is "Bowen might be dirty, but he wasn't on that play even though it clearly shows a foul occuring because Hubie Brown said Amare should have defended himself so you guys are just a bunch of whiners"

I won't debate Hubie Brown's credentials. But did he say Bowen didn't hit Stoudemire with the elbow? Do you even know where Brown was sitting? He can't see the jumbotron from that angle. He's got a tiny monitor at the press table. Plus, from the sideline angle Brown either saw it from BEHIND Bowen or BEHIND Stoudemire. Neither as good an angle. Stop using Hubie Brown as your eyes. Especially because he doesn't even support your argument.

I am not sure if we are looking at the same video, but with the one I saw, this is exactly what Hubie Brown said:

Hubie Brown said:
(Immediately after hit)
Yes he did he set the screen.
Yeah, yes he is.
Right, now Nash comes off of that backscreen, see?
Stoudemire sets the screen, before he got to halfcourt.
And as Nash coems off, there is the collision.
Right now, it looks like Stoudemire is claiming that he is hit.
(With slow motion replay)
Now let's keep an eye on Bowen, right there.
Yeah he catches him with a forearm.
And, well, that's luck (?)
Any guard coming off of that situation on a blind side screen, watch it, right there, if you are getting caught on the blind side, you gotta protect yourself. You either go low and use that forearm, or you are going to bounce off your head.
I am surprised Stoudemire didn't raise up his forearm, you know, you ward off that punishment right there.

No where was a foul mentioned, ever.

As for Bowen is notorious for going for the nuts? You mean he unintentionally kneed Nash once last year in a 10 year career, and he is now notorious for it? I am surprised nobody here knows that Stoudemire is notorious for whining to the media about Bowen all the time and that people should just dismiss him. Afterall, this is like the 3rd time he has done it in his 4 or 5 year career.

In pick up games, we, as amateurs, are smart enough to KNOW that people don't come into the screen with their faces, so we set the screen protecting ourselves as well. In fact, people actually does have physical contact on the floor, sometimes involving elbows and forearms as well. We tried to whine to the media about it, but nobody cared because we don't dunk the basketball and do push ups afterwards.

Mark Cuban actually blogged how mis-informed Hubie Brown is:
Al doesn't pretend to know the rules. Hubie however, knows some rules , but unfortunately gets a bunch of them wrong.
When he does, it hurts the NBA because it gives fans an incorrect understanding of what the rules actually are. Why is this a problem? Well if a fan thinks a rule is enforced one way, when in actuality it is enforced completely the opposite, that fan is going to think the refs aren't doing their jobs. He or she is going to get very mad everytime that "missed call" goes against his/her team and that can only hurt the impression the fan has of the NBA and our officials.
Let me give you the prime example, the block charge rule and the "restricted area" around the basket. For some reason, Hubie and pretty much everyone else thinks that if a defensive player is inside the circle near the basket, that no matter what happens, if there is contact, it's a block - a foul on the defender. Wrongo cupcake.

http://www.blogmaverick.com/2005/06/10/nba-refs-and-the-playoffs/

Sounds like Cuban is talking about ambchang_, doesn't it?

You can read what actual rule is there as well. Just more proof that Hubie doesn't know what he's talking about sometimes and ambchang_ is equally clueless.
