Can you really not see that Bowen through his elbow into Stoudemire?

Thats a foul and a dirty one at that. Save you energy, because its quite obvious to anyone who isn't completely ignorant to the rules of the NBA that Bowen was wrong and Stoudemire was right.

Bruce is lucky Amare kept his cool. A lesser person might have given Bowen whats been coming to him.

The refs didn't think so, Hubie Brown didn't think so. In fact, the person who posted this video suggested that it could be Stoudemire being soft.

I know Bruce was lucky, because Amare really has a history of being a tough guy.

Read this post again, and tell me it doesn't warrant my response.

If people want to go into childish rants and resort to cheap shots, I am not above it. But if you want to talk basketball and look objectively at that Bowen "elbow" go ahead. Look at the youtube radio, listen to Hubie Brown talk about it. NOBODY posted the video, NOBODY mentioned what Brown said. I came in here and pointed out the obvious, and I am acting like a troll?

I admit I am being sarcastic in my tone, but it's not like the actions of other Suns posters have indicated that this sort of tone is not tolerated on this board. If it is, it seems to only apply to non-Suns fans.

It doesn't. It requires a response, but not in a trollish behavior.

Yeah, right. Here's what the youtube poster wrote: "Decide this for yourself...Was Amare Stoudemire playing soft or is Bruce Bowen just being his normal, dirty self?"

Much tougher than anyone on the Spurs. Amare steps up and play the game like a man. He doesn't resort to cheap, dirty tricks like Manu Ginobili and Bruce Bowen.

The only time that "it is not a blocking foul, is if the player catches the ball in the paint area. This can still a judgment call though, one that I think even refs don't look at too closely.

UNLESS, and this is a very important exception that NO ANNOUNCER or media person, and most coaches and players don't seem to understand:
From NBA.Com - EXCEPTION: Any player may be legally positioned within the "restricted area" if the offensive player receives the ball within the Lower Defensive Box.
Which means if a player starts his drive near the baseline, and runs over a guy in the restricted area, whether it's the primary or 2ndary defender, it's a charge. The player can point to the floor all he wants, but it's a charge.

The guy in the instructional video you posted doesn't even do it! In the video, and in instances with players who are NOT cheap shot artists, the defender tries to slip AROUND the screen, he doesn't CAUSE contact with an elbow to the chest. And don't use Hubie Brown as your defense. Look at it with your own eyes. Better yet, find someone who isn't a Spurs fan or a Suns fan.

So is Hubie Brown a Suns fan or a Spurs fan?

Let's see the whining to the media. Come on now. I want you to post several incidents of Stoudemire whining to the media, and I want to see them 3 weeks apart. Let's see 'em. As far as whining to the refs, I'd much rather see him call attention to the cheap shots than letting them go.

BTW, your ignore is not working again. Don't worry though, I am expecting it to miraculously start working once you can't argue anymore, kinda like how Stoudemire miraculously heals in time to complain to the ref.

So is Hubie Brown a Suns fan or a Spurs fan?

Are you STILL using the Hube Brown defense?

I JUST posted a link to Cuban's blog where he specifically points out that Hubie often doesn't understand what the rule is.

Is Cuban a Suns fan?

Is this a Phoenix thing? People just like to threaten others with acts they are never going to carry out?

I'm not threatening you. I'm telling you that it's no fun getting hit in the lower ribs and/or solar plexus. If you think Amare's a ***** for reacting as bad as he did, I would like to see how you react to the exact same hit.

I have taken martial arts as a kid/teen, learned self-defense in the military, and learned some more as a state Corrections Officer. Always, ALWAYS, the Solar Plexus and the floating rib area was always pointed out as a weak spot in most humans.

http://www.self-defender.net/article20.htm

Go ahead, tell me I'm wrong.

I also have played basketball in a tournament as a guard, and I know WTF "protecting yourself from a screener" is. It's you putting your forearm out, absorbing the hit with the arm, while trying to get around the screener. It's NOT "leading with your elbow, and deliberately making your arm inflexible, in order that the screener absorbs your full momentum/weight on the fulcrum of your elbow."

No. That's the kind of **** that will get you beat down in the parking lot.

Now you're just trolling. You'd rather talk about Stoudemire whining, which is irrelevant, instead of Bowen being a dirty player. I've already admited that Stoudemire whines too much. In fact, I'm on record here saying that Raja, Steve, Amare, and Mike all whine WAAAAY too much.

Hubie never said "that's not a foul, Amare has nothing to complain about"

Which is something I have heard Hubie comment on in the past.

Again, Hubie fails to consider the reason why Amare didn't "defend" himself; points which I have already made and you have chosen to ignore. Instead you'd rather make snide, sarcastic remarks.

So according to you; everything Hubie says is biblical truth?

Like, how accoridng to Hubie with Shaq on the floor the Suns have the best defense in the league? No? That doesn't count?

Suns fans are a different breed where we tend to rely on facts as we observe them, instead of facts as they are told to us. The video evidence is pretty clear on Bowen's behaivor. Focusing on the ONE incident when there are several more examples in the game really just proves our point.

Your entire arguement is "Bowen might be dirty, but he wasn't on that play even though it clearly shows a foul occuring because Hubie Brown said Amare should have defended himself so you guys are just a bunch of whiners"

Staw

Man

At least that 75 year old can actually say things clearly, instead of misquoting other people for your own benefit.

So please, do tell me how the Suns fans have the ability to hear things by commentators that were not being said. Does that have anything to do with you being a special breed to actually hear things your way instead of what was being said?

BTW, I am confused as well, the last time I tried to see things my way instead of your (meaning Suns fans) way, I was labelled as a troll. So in conclusion, is it true that Suns fans are always right, and anybody who disagrees are just trolls?

I won't debate Hubie Brown's credentials. But did he say Bowen didn't hit Stoudemire with the elbow? Do you even know where Brown was sitting? He can't see the jumbotron from that angle. He's got a tiny monitor at the press table. Plus, from the sideline angle Brown either saw it from BEHIND Bowen or BEHIND Stoudemire. Neither as good an angle. Stop using Hubie Brown as your eyes. Especially because he doesn't even support your argument.

My argument was that that was a normal basketball play, and Hubie Brown said it by saying that anyone who protect themselves like Bowen did when going into a blind side screen. I am not sure how much more he could be agreeing with me.

Second, those commentators are 5 inches from the screen. Yeah, I am sure anyone who ever disagrees with you is always wrong, isn't that what you are getting at?

Mark Cuban actually blogged how mis-informed Hubie Brown is:

http://www.blogmaverick.com/2005/06/10/nba-refs-and-the-playoffs/

Sounds like Cuban is talking about ambchang_, doesn't it?

You can read what actual rule is there as well. Just more proof that Hubie doesn't know what he's talking about sometimes and ambchang_ is equally clueless.

Really? Cuban actually is better in the rules of the game than Hubie Brown? What a surprise! I am sure Cuban's knowledge of the NBA rules rather than his deep pockets allowed him to own an NBA franchise.

Hold on, I think I heard Paul Allen has a vaster knowledge of NBA rules than Phil Jackson.

LOL. This is really amazing. Exact things were said between dsf and me, but his is OK, mine is not. Let's see what the difference between the two of us is, I am sure it's NOT because I am a Spurs fan and he is a Suns fan, because mods are supposed to be impartial ... but ... I just can't find another reason.

We do know that Cuban hates the Spurs with a passion because of the rivalry. We also know that Cuban complains about the referees whenever his team is perceived to have been hurt, but says nothing when his team benefits.

That's WHINING? He was answering a direct question about being considered for MVP. Not whining.

So you've failed there.

Really? I got hit by people all the time setting the screen, I will send those guys this link the next time they do this, because I want the way we play to be as clean and foul-free as a Suns game.

Does he say Bowen doesn't hit Stoudemire with the elbow?

He said he hit Stoudemire with a forearm, which according to Suns fans earlier in this thread, is perfectly OK. Or are those Suns fans wrong also because they disagreed with you.

Okay that one is 11 months old. Where's the one 3 weeks later?

OMG, you mean he only whined to the media once in a while?

But if you so insist:
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/playoffs2007/news/story?id=2872357

But I am sorry, he actually complained 6 DAYS after the Game 2 incident, instead of 3 weeks, I know it's not exactly like you asked for it, given that you have no grasp of figurative speech, but I hope you can accept my apologies and that Stoudemire whined to the media 6 days apart. (Remember it is NOT a week, it is only 6 days, NOT a week).

That's WHINING? He was answering a direct question about being considered for MVP. Not whining.

Why was everybody talking about Shawn Marion being a whiner?

This is from the same basic instance as the first, right? Yes, May 11, 2007.

Again, not whining to the media. He was asked about technical fouls and he commented that they were cheap (my word).

So you've failed there.

So you felt that those are not whining, OK, fine. Bowen and Ginobili is dirty (again, why Ginobili, I really don't get that one), and complaining about Duncan not getting suspended after his own stupid move, yeah, I am sure those are not whines by you either.

My IGNORE has always worked. I think that's Phade you're thinking of. And furthermore, you are STILL on IGNORE. There is a feature to view individual posts of people on ignore.
ic ... I am interested to learn more about ignore, I need to know the tools to protect myself when I am wrong and would refuse to acknowledge it.
