Here is the numbers on what many would consider the top WRs in the NFL.
By the way there are no WRs in the top 25 moneymakers in the NFL.
It's equal parts amazing and pathetic how quickly you all seem capable of turning on a guy.
Football is football. Business is business. There wasn't a single thread knocking Fitzgerald's heart or performance in 4 years. Now he has an issue on the business side of things and he's a pansy, a quitter, an a-hole, and not really all that important. We can live without him. He's overrated. Etc etc etc.
Seriously, some of you need to put down your 11th beer of the day and get a life rather than sitting down at the keyboard and venting all this rage at the guy. Yes, he's already rich. Every guy on this team is rich. Believe it or not, he's not under any obligation to help Rod Graves out of the stupid deal he offered Larry or to give back any money to help the team. I'm sure all of you regularly offer to take paycuts at work when things get tough around the office.
If you watched the Cardinals last year and came away with any impression other than that Larry was A) the best offensive player on the team and B) the best receiver in football, or at least one of the 2 or 3 best, then I really don't know what to say to you. Maybe football isn't your sport.
There, now you can vent some anger at me and lay off of Larry for a while. Get a grip.
We are gonna lose Dansby no matter what.
We have Boldin and Fitz can be replaced for FAR cheaper trade his ass and make the TEAM better. Fitz alone does not make this team better in the long run if it hinders us from bringing in talent to fill holes on this team.
I would assume that his solution is the smart one. Only idiots pay recievers out the ass like this. How has it worked out for Cincinatti????? This move is stupid, and the epitome of a Rod Graves' led team.So your solution to filling holes on the team is to create more holes?
Are you George Boone?
I would assume that his solution is the smart one. Only idiots pay recievers out the ass like this. How has it worked out for Cincinatti????? This move is stupid, and the epitome of a Rod Graves' led team.
RG needs to grow a brain. Football is won in the trenches. You need to be dominent on both lines before you start throwing money at skill position players. Especially wideouts.
The Cards have been a top 10 offense many times. Too bad you dont get any trophies for that. Cincinatti actually was doing better than us in that they really had a complete O. There wasn't a weak link anywhere IMO. The couldn't win because their D blows. Now their line is getting old, Whosyourmama has evolved and is more pricy and Carson is tired of all the BS.Cincy had a Top 10 offense this season. It's not Ocho Cinco's fault that two of their top defensive draftees either ended up getting suspended from the NFL or breaking their necks. It's not Carson Palmer's fault that defensive players kept getting arrested. Cincy was a Super Bowl favorite all of two years ago. I'm not sure that the situations are comperable.

At least you have a plan and have actually thought it out. Most here just want Fitz signed for no reason. I will still have to disagree.I still disagree. In today's NFL, considering the no contact rules for DBs, football is won on the edges. Its' QB and WRs on offense and DE/Rush LBs that are vitally important. That's where you throw enormous amounts of money. You can get mid salaried guys to pass block and plug the middle, and tote the rock and still win.
No one has said anything about letting him go so that we could sign backups. I know you are too intelligent to honestly believe that anyone here actually wants that. Not sure if you are trying to agitate or what, but that statement you made makes zero sense whatsoever. And no way would I agree with letting go a 24 year old 2 time pro bowl player at any position just so I could sign some backups. 28,29,30 maybe with a young guy in line to replace him, but no way with a guy that age.
Different strokes for different folks, I guess.I still disagree. In today's NFL, considering the no contact rules for DBs, football is won on the edges. Look what happened to the Ravens when they couldn't move the ball vs. Patriots.Different strokes for different folks, I guess.
With a good line, you can run the ball successfully, which is the main goal on offense IMO. With above average blocking, the WRs will have plenty of time to get open and the QB will be able to find the best option. Any WR can get open with 5-7 seconds to do so. Look what happened to Champ Bailey this year when his team was unable to generate a pass rush.
One question though, according to you teams should be spending primo bucks on pass rushers. Why then would you think that average pass blockers would be successfull. That just doesn't make sense. The SB not only emphasized the need for pass rushers, but mainly the need for a dominent line.
No one has said anything about letting him go so that we could sign backups.
Please tell me how trading Fitz for a 1st rounder and a very good starter, i.e. Lito Sheppard, and then having the time and money to resign Pace, a GREAT OLB,
You gotta be more specific. Which year??Look what happened to the Ravens when they couldn't move the ball vs. Patriots.
I was just getting ready to write the same thing.Even though we disagree on some things it is great to talk football with someone who actually has a rational basis for their takes.
Last year. I suppose if the Ravens had had a decent QB in that game and avoided the weird happenings when on defense, it would have been different, but just running the ball on the Pats didn't really work. You gotta be more specific. Which year??
That situation doesn't really apply to what i was saying at all though. I was saying that a team should build good lines and go from there. The Raven's O-line was waaayy worse then ours. Odgen, Pashos, Mulitalo, Brown and Vincent are all gone. There line was made up of rookies and first year players.Last year. Circle the wagons offenses in the the NFL are not going to be the same, in my opinion.
Yes, I think this year Pats could compete with them. To beat the Pats, the Giants had to pressure the Pats on offense and make key plays in the passing game. That situation doesn't really apply to what i was saying at all though. With that said, do you think that this year's Patriots could have competed with the 2000 Ravens that were made up of great defense, best O-line in the game and nothing at QB or reciever?
I think it would be safe to say that you and I saw different things in that game then. IMO the keys to the Giants victory were their constant pressure on the QB and their steady powerfull rushing attack which forced the Pats to keep 8 in the box.Yes, I think this year Pats could compete with them. You know more about the Raves than I do. I won't dispute that. I am just thinking about the unreal pass plays that the Giants completed in the second half.I think it would be safe to say that you and I saw different things in that game then. IMO the keys to the Giants victory were their constant pressure on the QB and their steady powerfull rushing attack which forced the Pats to keep 8 in the box.
The 2000 Ravens had the best D of all time IMO and if you didn't stack 8-9 guys down on them all game they would punsih you on the ground. Come to think of it, J Lewis ran for over 2,000yrds that year with teams stacking the box, so I guess they were just gonna spank you there regardless. They were also scary good in STs.
Keep in mind that team absolutely obliterated a very good Giant's squad in the SB.
Well I think Fitz is more valuable than anything we could realistically get for him in a trade. Even a #1 and Lito Shepard and Faneca.
Am I smart or what? A what? Thanks a lot.
But in reality I'm a Derminator. Sometimes right, sometimes wrong, but I'll always be back.
Looking back at these threads you are probably the most prescient of all the posters on here.
