Am I the only one who thinks that Jordan Farmar would be an excellent backup PG for the Suns?

He pushes the ball, his quickness, explosiveness and leaping ability improved a lot since last season, now phisically he is a good up-and-down PG even by Suns-standards an he is an improving (albeit still streaky) outside-shooter. Plays solid defense too.

Probably the Lakers will keep him and if not the Suns will be the last team where they will trade him to but I think that he would fit very well here.

It's interesting to see his development because in NCAA he was a solid, but nothing special PG.

yeah, when he was on the board in last year's draft, I would have liked to see us take a flier on him, rather than trade away the pick for cash that wasn't going to be spent on bringing back TT.

I pointed this out in the Lakers thread, Sarver really crapped the bed on this one. We didn't draft Rondo or Marcus Williams either so we could packet some dough. Same goes for Daniel Gibson and Kyle Lowry who were also available. And all these guys are better and cheaper than Marcus Banks.

JF was a solid NCAA PG as well, remember he took that UCLA team to the national finals as a sophomore.

I'm always a fan of guys who play big in big games. Farmar was the ONLY bruin who showed up in the championship game, on a bum wheel no less. Someone above said he was a solid but nothing special PG in college...I beg to differ as he was the engine of that young UCLA team. I was very happy to draft him.

I really like the way he plays...he has surpising athletic ability (42 inch vert) and makes good decisions. His shot has improved a ton from last year and he plays defense unlike other PGs we've had in LA (coughsmushcough). His hops are seen on the defensive end more often than not...he gets up in shooters face at the top of their jump, and he's really hard to throw over (last night he stopped a sure dunk on a full court pass with his closing speed and leaping ability to yank the ball away.)

He would be a strong PG in the Suns system, I agree...if you notice (if you watch Laker games) when Jordan comes in the Lakers pick up the tempo and establish more of a running style offense with penetration and kickouts instead of slow down and run the tri. Fish is calm, cool and veteran...Farmar is hair on fire...it's a nice switchup.

With Crittendon able to play the 2 I see him getting time in the future at that spot along with Farmar. But right now, Jordan is making his mark as the lakers PG of the future..a job he REALLY wants to lock down being a local LA kid.

That's one of the reasons why I love Marion. My english is terrible but Marion always surprises me that I don't understand a single word from his interviews.

He has so freaking accent that sometimes I don't even understand the questions...

I have always been a big Farmar fan - and I think he will be an excellent pro. I think after the travesty of the draft four years ago (WTF? passing on Iguodala and trading Deng IIRC) passing on Farmar for cash was the second biggest mistake under Sarver.

Then again I really liked Luke Ridinour too coming out.

Speaking of the draft I am absolutely sold that what happened last year with the Hawks getting the pick is going ot be a blessing in disguise. I expect the Hawks to be pretty dang bad (keep in mind for all their talent their coachis Mike Woodson and their PG is Tyron Lue) and that pick to be top 5. With those freshman coming out it should be a ridiculous draft. I see Beasley of Kstate going first and then OJ Mayo.

If we somehow could get Derrick Rose or Chase (both players who I think are MADE to be Phoenix Suns) it would be waay better than anyone we could have gotten in this draft not named Kevin Durant.

The one thing that became very apparent since Farmar was drafted was that we never knew the full extent of his ankle injuries his soph year at UCLA because he was nowhere near as athletic that year as he is now.

He's playing great, jumper is still very inconsistent but he's improving. His weakness at UCLA was really defense, the one thing that became quite obvious last year with Collison at PG was that he was a dramatically better defender than Farmar. Contrast the title games where Farmar showed up on offense but got absolutely abused on defense by Taurean Green. A year later Collison completely shut Green down, but got shut down himself so basically a wash.

Farmar is more of a natural PG than Collison(who played SG in HS).

Great to see him doing so well in the NBA.

I don't really care who the Suns could've drafted to be a backup PG, the leash would still be short, and no matter what, that backup wouldn't look very good playing behind Nash because of the impact Nash has on the offense.

I was pissed that they didn't get Marcus Williams though.

He's playing great, jumper is still very inconsistent but he's improving.

That's been his greatest improvement. He's shooting 48% on the season so far, averaging close to 10 ppg in 20 minutes of action. He's really only had one bad shooting night (3-10) unless you also count preseason where he had a 1-6 night. Other than that, he's knocking down shots with regularity.

He's getting a TON of steals, too. Digging his confidence and yeah, those ankles must have been destroyed his sophomore because his athletic ability is off the charts.

I like the pg's we have. Besides Nash, LB will get better at distributing and, while his natural spot is the 2, I think he will be serviceable at pg. I would also like to see Strawberry at pg as much as Farmar.

In the end, what I would really like to do is pick up Derrick Rose in this summer's draft. That would be much better than dinking around with Farmar.

As long as Woodson is coaching Atlanta they will continue to implode. I expect them to have one of the worst records in the league if they don't make a coaching change.
