The 2026 FIFA World Cup will take place between Argentina and Spain at the MetLife Stadium.
Spain booked their spot after defeating World Cup favorites France in the semifinals, while Argentina edged out England to reach the finals.
One of the biggest talking points about the game is none other than the matchup between Lionel Messi and Lamine Yamal.
After all, Messi was the face of FC Barcelona for years, and Yamal is currently the face of the club.

NYC mayor Zohran Mamdani’s message for Lionel Messi vs. Lamine Yamal’s World Cup final game
Speaking of the Messi vs. Yamal game, an old image of the two stars has been going viral. Yes, the one when Messi was bathing a baby Yamal at an event organized by UNICEF.
Ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup final, New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani recalled that viral photograph on X.
“Nineteen years ago, Lionel Messi bathed a baby named Lamine Yamal for a charity calendar. Some call it football’s most famous blessing,” Mamdani tweeted.
He added, “Others say it sounds like the plot of the perfect movie. Tomorrow, we find out how it ends at the NYNJ Stadium.”
Indeed, the match will decide who will come out on top. So far, Messi has had a phenomenal run, scoring 8 goals and dishing out 4 assists.
On the other hand, Yamal has mesmerized fans with his dribbling, but has scored just once throughout the tournament and will hope to change that in the final.
