The Baltimore Ravens received a significant injury scare when Zay Flowers left Saturday’s training camp practice after colliding with safety Jaylinn Hawkins. Flowers was running across the middle during a 7-on-7 period when he collided with Hawkins on a pass from Lamar Jackson. The two players appeared to bang legs, and Flowers immediately fell to the ground in considerable pain.
Trainers examined Flowers’ left leg while he remained on the field. General manager Eric DeCosta and running back Derrick Henry were among those who walked over to check on the two-time Pro Bowl receiver. Flowers eventually stood and walked off the field without assistance. He did not require a cart but limped back toward the Ravens’ facility and did not return to practice.
Brian Wacker of The Baltimore Sun reported that trainers initially appeared to be examining Flowers’ left knee. Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic later reported that the early hope is that Flowers suffered a left quadriceps contusion after banging legs with Hawkins.
That is an encouraging initial development, but it should not be treated as a confirmed diagnosis. Flowers will likely undergo additional evaluation before Baltimore determines the severity of the injury or establishes a timetable for his return. The Ravens recently signed Flowers to a four-year, $140 million contract extension that included $108 million guaranteed. The agreement followed a 2025 season in which he set career highs with 86 receptions, 1,211 receiving yards and five touchdowns while earning his second consecutive Pro Bowl selection.
Flowers is Baltimore’s No. 1 wide receiver and one of the most important players in Declan Doyle’s offense. His quickness, route running and ability after the catch give Lamar Jackson a playmaker capable of producing from multiple alignments.
If Flowers misses practice time, Rashod Bateman and Baltimore’s younger receivers will receive additional opportunities. The Ravens, however, won’t speculate about replacements until they learn more about Flowers’ condition.
Ravens head coach Jesse Minter hinted at Flowers missing time, labeling the Pro Bowl wide receiver day-to-day with a contusion.

Flowers will probably miss some practice time but Minter doesn’t expect him to be down for a while. Best case scenario really. https://t.co/bEYOr5s95l
