Zachary Karhoff of Archbishop Hoban compiled a batting average of over .500 during the 2026 high school baseball season.

He consistently impacted games with his elite production at the plate en route to being named MVP of the 2026 Akron Beacon Journal All-Greater Akron baseball team.

The area all-star team also includes standouts from two Greater Akron teams that made the statetournament, Division II state runner-upWalsh Jesuit and Division III state semifinalistCuyahoga Valley Christian Academy.


Regional champions WJ and CVCA joined Hoban, Highland, Hudson, Norton and St. Vincent-St. Mary as the seven Greater Akron teams that won a district championship.

Zachary Karhoff, Archbishop Hoban​

Senior first baseman​


Karhoff, a West Virginia State University recruit, batted .525 with a 1.666 OPS (.955 slugging percentage and .711 on-base percentage). He finished the season with 31 hits, nine doubles, two triples, four HRs, 28 RBIs, 23 runs, 15 walks and 17 hit-by-pitches.

Jonathan Kievman, Norton​

Sophomore middle infielder​


Kievman batted .443 with a 1.154 OPS (.659 slugging percentage and .495 on-base percentage). He totaled 39 hits, eight doubles, a triple, three HRs, 27 RBIs and 26 runs.

Caden Boyd, Stow​

Junior catcher​


Boyd batted .443 with a 1.203 OPS (.623 slugging percentage and .580 on-base percentage). He finished with 27 hits, six doubles, a triple, a HR, 18 RBIs and 17 walks.

Casey Myser, Highland​

Senior right fielder​


Myser, an Ohio University recruit, batted .431 with a 1.184 OPS (.631 slugging percentage and .553 on-base percentage). He concluded the season with 28 hits, seven doubles, two HRs, 24 RBIs, 21 runs, 18 stolen bases, 16 walks and a .970 fielding percentage.

Connor McGough, Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy​

Senior shortstop​


McGough, a Davidson recruit, batted .417 with a 1.253 OPS (.757 slugging percentage and .496 on-base percentage). He finished with 48 hits, 14 doubles, two triples, seven home runs, 36 RBIs, 23 stolen bases, 16 walks, a school-record 49 runs and a .953 fielding percentage.

Shawn Sullivan, Walsh Jesuit​

Senior pitcher​


Sullivan, a Tennessee recruit, went 3-1 with a 0.90 ERA, a .686 WHIP and 89 strikeouts in 46⅔ innings. He allowed 18 hits, six earned runs and 14 walks. Sullivan also batted .417 in 12 at-bats.

Caeden DeDomenic, Norton​

Senior pitcher​


DeDomenic, a Mount Union recruit, went 9-1 with a save, a 0.74 ERA and a 0.88 WHIP. He had 71 strikeouts in 65⅔ innings, and allowed 47 hits, seven earned runs and 11 walks. Opponents batted .192 against him.

Matthew Ramsey, Archbishop Hoban​

Sophomore pitcher​


Ramsey went 8-0 with two saves, a 0.80 ERA and 76 strikeouts in 52⅓ innings. He allowed 38 hits, six earned runs and 12 walks.

Dan Miller, Highland​

Senior pitcher​


Miller finished 7-2 with a 0.79 ERA and 69 strikeouts in 52⅔ innings. He allowed 34 hits, six earned runs and 22 walks. Miller also hit two HRs and had 18 RBIs.

Matthew Mansbery, Walsh Jesuit​

Senior shortstop​


Mansbery, a Michigan recruit, sparked Walsh's offense as the leadoff hitter. He batted .402 with a 1.049 OPS (.587 slugging percentage and .462 on-base percentage). He totaled 37 hits, seven doubles, five triples, 30 runs, 19 stolen bases and nine RBIs.

Grady Falkenstein, Archbishop Hoban​

Senior outfielder​


Falkenstein, a Malone recruit, batted .412 with a 1.130 OPS (.635 slugging percentage and .495 on-base percentage). He finished with 35 hits, eight doubles, three triples, three HRs, 22 RBIs, 33 runs, 29 stolen bases, eight walks and was hit by eight pitches.

Tyler Frate, Revere​

Senior third baseman​


Frate batted .404 average with a .450 on-base percentage, 36 hits, seven doubles, 20 runs and 30 RBIs.

Anden Bender, Revere​

Senior shortstop​


Bender, a University of Akron recruit, batted .400 with a .567 on-base percentage. He totaled 28 hits, six doubles, a triple, four HRs, 33 runs, 24 RBIs and 17 stolen bases.

Jacob Lancy, CVCA​

Senior third baseman​


Lancy, a Bryant and Stratton recruit, batted .370 with a 1.108 OPS (.532 on-base percentage and .576 slugging percentage). He concluded the season with 34 hits, seven doubles, four HRs, 29 RBIs, 27 runs, 28 walks and a .908 fielding percentage.

Brody Petry, Copley​

Senior catcher​


Petry was Copley's leadoff hitter and finished with a .390 batting average and 1.058 OPS (.532 slugging percentage and .525 on-base percentage). He totaled 30 hits, 11 doubles, 29 runs, 19 stolen bases and eight RBIs.

Jason Copeland, Wadsworth​

Junior infielder​


Copeland batted .394 with a 1.032 OPS (.511 on-base percentage and .521 slugging percentage). He had 28 hits, seven doubles, a triple, 26 runs, 13 RBIs and eight stolen bases.

Troy Thomas, Tallmadge​

Junior second baseman​


Thomas batted .404 with a 0.968 OPS. He had 23 hits, five doubles, nine RBIs, 13 runs and eight stolen bases.

William Tober, St. Vincent-St. Mary​

Junior pitcher/infielder​


Tober went 8-2 on the mound with a 2.10 ERA, a save and 73 strikeouts in 63 innings. He allowed 49 hits and 18 earned runs. As a hitter, he batted .301 with 22 hits, four doubles, three triples, 12 RBIs and 11 runs.

Jack Sutton, Hudson​

Senior pitcher​


Sutton went 5-3 with a 1.06 ERA and 38 strikeouts in 46 innings.

Zach Shobert, Twinsburg​

Junior third baseman​


Shobert batted .387 with a 1.033 OPS (.500 on-base percentage and .533 slugging percentage), and had 29 hits, four doubles, two triples, a HR, 14 RBIs and 19 runs.
