I just read this happened last night. Can anyone give me insight as to why? I haven't been paying too much attention this spring while focusing on the Suns and U of A but was he that bad? We signed him to a pretty big deal...

He needs more MLB at-bats. Needs more time to learn playing 3b. Wasn't going to crack the outfield with Pollock, Peralta, Trumbo and Inciarte firmly entrenched. Lamb is clearly a better option at 3B.

He is going to be playing right field in Reno. Sounds like they will dump Trumbo before the trade deadline and put Tomás in his place.

He's the future, but the future isn't now. When somebody falters, he'll get the call.

Have to like that Jake Lamb rose to the occasion and took the third base job back after the D'backs had penciled in Tomas.

The D'backs are selling Trumbo as healthy now when he wasn't last season. We'll see. He'll have to hit a ton to make up for his piss poor fielding. Saw him turn a Cub's single into a triple. Goldie erased the run with a put out at the plate.

Arizona hasn't been pleased with Tomás' defense at third base and has considered moving him to the outfield.

It will be an interesting decision if Trumbo stays healthy and emerges as our RBI leader. If so, will Tomás' fielding in RF be significantly better to warrant getting rid of Trumbo?

I don't think Tomas will make a very good outfielder either. He may just be a LF.

He's very short and squatty and I doubt his speed is much.

He really needs to be able to hit breaking pitches better. His pitch selectiveness needs to improve drastically. This was the right move. No doubt in my mind.
