Yankees get good news on trading for Luis Arraez originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
At this point, it seems a foregone conclusion that the San Francisco Giants are going to trade away Luis Arraez.
That means that teams will be lining up to trade for the three-time batting champion who will be a free agent after this season.
Among the teams expected to be interested? The New York Yankees.
Earlier this week, ESPN listed the Yanks as a fit for an Arraez trade, and in a new article on MLB.com on Friday, the Yankees were again named as a good fit for the lefty swinger.
In this new article, Mark Feinsand also listed the Arizona Diamondbacks and Tampa Bay Rays as possibilities for Arraez.
He has improved his defense in a major way this season, and although the Yankees' infield is a bit more crowded than those other two teams, they'd find a spot for him if they could land him from the Giants.
"After posting a career-low .292 average last season, Arraez has bounced back in 2026, hitting .326 with three homers and 30 RBIs in 71 games during his first year with the Giants," Feinsand writes. "Arraez has also shined defensively after returning to second base, his 10 outs above average ranking in the 99th percentile of the league. Arraez is on a one-year, $12 million deal and will be a free agent after the season, making him a strong rental candidate."

Arraez is far from a stereotypical Yankee. These are the "Bronx Bombers," after all.
But when Arraez steps into the box, he hearkens back to an older generation of ballplayers, the contact-hitting greats like Rod Carew and Tony Gwynn. This isn't to say he's them, but he's like them.
It'd be a fun addition to the Yankees' lineup, and given Arraez's status as a pending free agent, it probably wouldn't cost all that much, either.
