Giants get bittersweet trade deadline report on Luis Arraez originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Less than two months from the MLB trade deadline, the San Francisco Giants are almost surely going to be sellers. August 3 is the date of the deadline, and this team is running out of time to right the ship and avoid a sale.
Trade rumors and reports are beginning to pick up steam a bit, with the deadline steadily approaching. And for the Giants, these updates aren't exactly what they were hoping for this season.
But, Robert Murray of Fansided.com shared a report on Luis Arraez well ahead of the trade deadline that, while bittersweet, does bring more good than bad for the Giants.
Luis Arraez trade report is a bittersweet update for Giants
"Arraez, 29, should be a popular name on the trade market along with starter Robbie Ray, among others," Murray writes.
Seeing that Arraez is likely to be a popular name at this year's trade deadline is some good news for the Giants.
If they trade the $12 million one-year rental amid a breakout season at second base, with surprisingly good defense, then the Giants are sure to land a solid return based on this report.
However, the Giants never wanted to be in a position where selling Arraez would make sense for the franchise.

The Giants are looking increasingly likely to sell some of their veterans this season based on their poor record, sitting at 25-38, well below .500.
The likelihood of a sell-off is what's bitter about this report from Murray. However, the sweet part is the likely chance that the Giants will receive strong offers for Arraez.
That's why this trade report from Murray is a bittersweet one. They never wanted to be in this position, but at least they're in line to receive a strogn return for Arraez this summer.
