Carlos LaGrange was never likely to make the New York Yankees' Opening Day roster.
That didn't stop him from seizing a lot of attention during Spring Training as a huge right-hander with an incredible fastball.
Now viewed as a phenom with a big future, LaGrange was sent down to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to begin the minor league season.
That meant he got to make his debut for this season with the Railriders on Sunday, and they were on the road in Buffalo to take on the Bison, the Blue Jays' affiliate.
The temperature was hovering right around freezing, but LaGrange warmed it up.
He touched 101.3 miles per hour on his fastball and struck out three hitters:

In the end, LaGrange worked four innings and allowed just a single run. He gave up four hits, but he didn't walk a hitter.
It'll be key for LaGrange to limit walks. If he does that, he can be a long-term big league starter and not just be relegated to the bullpen.
It's just one start, but so far it's so good for LaGrange at Triple-A.
