Jazz Chisholm Jr. was dealing with leg cramps during Thursday afternoon's game at Chicago, in the Yankees' latest extra-inning loss.
Jose Caballero pinch-ran for Chisholm after the Yanks second baseman was intentionally walked in the 11th inning of the White Sox's eventual 2-1 win, in 11 innings, at Rate Field.
Chisholm was noticeably wincing and stretching his leg during his previous at-bat, a ninth-inning groundout. He retreated to the clubhouse but returned to play defense in the bottom half.
Yankees reliever Fernando Cruz walked in the winning run, a day after the Yanks' 12-inning loss to the White Sox, who split the four-game set.
Afterward, Yanks manager Aaron Boone told reporters that Chisholm had been dealing with leg cramping, per MLB.com. The Yankees are now 1-8 this year in extra-inning games.
Chisholm went 1-for-3 with two walks on Thursday. On Friday, they begin a three-game series at Wrigley Field against the Cubs.
Last weekend the Yankees lost Cody Bellinger to a left hamstring strain, and he might not be available to return until sometime in September.

The Yankees are still awaiting further clarity on Aaron Judge's condition (stress fracture, first right rib) and when he might resume baseball activity, and Giancarlo Stanton hasn't played since late April due to two separate right calf strains.
Bellinger's condition, and the uncertainty surrounding their two right-handed sluggers, could push the Yanks toward adding more offensive help before Monday's 6 p.m. (EDT) MLB trade deadline, in addition to their pursuits for a right-handed hitting catcher and relief pitching.
