As the MLB season rolls through May, several former Florida Gators are making major impacts on the field. From veteran sluggers to rising stars, these former Gators are helping power their teams–and building strong cases for All-Star recognition.
Each week, we're spotlighting the top Gators in the majors based on their recent performances. Whether it's Pete Alonso launching home runs in New York or Wyatt Langford heating up in Texas, Florida baseball is well represented across the league.
Florida has built a reputation as one of the top pipelines for professional baseball talent in the country, and this year is no different.
With the summer months heating up, we'll be tracking how these former Gators stack up in the weekly headlines. Here's a look at the five Florida alumni who stood out the most this week in Major League Baseball.
Last 7 Games: .185 AVG | .207 OBP | .259 SLG | 5 H | 3 RBI | 1 BB | 12 SO
2025 Season: .301 AVG | .406 OBP | .967 OPS | 9 HR | 37 RBI | 52 H
Alonso's bat has gone cold over the past week, managing just five hits in 27 at-bats with no homers and 12 strikeouts. Still, the Mets slugger remains one of baseball's most productive hitters overall, slashing .301/.406/.967 with nine long balls and 37 RBI on the year.
Even when in a slump, his ability to draw walks and hit for power keeps him a threat in the third spot of New York's lineup.
Last 7 Games: .222 AVG | .250 OBP | .556 SLG | 6 H | 3 HR | 6 RBI | 2 SB
2025 Season: .248 AVG | .329 OBP | .811 OPS | 9 HR | 20 RBI | 9 SB
Langford showed flashes of his elite ceiling this week, hammering three home runs and driving in six runs. While his batting average dipped to .222 during that stretch, the power numbers are in line with his season totals.
With nine home runs and nine stolen bases already, Langford is establishing himself as a legitimate dual threat in the Rangers' outfield.
Last 7 Games: .261 AVG | .320 OBP | .348 SLG | 6 H | 2 RBI | 1 BB | 1 SB
2025 Season: .280 AVG | .366 OBP | .798 OPS | 4 HR | 18 RBI | 4 SB
Harrison Bader continues to be a reliable contributor for the Twins, batting .261 over his last seven games while adding a stolen base and solid defensive play.
While not a power bat, his consistent approach and versatility in the outfield make him a key piece in Minnesota's lineup.
Last 7 Games: .241 AVG | .290 OBP | .276 SLG | 7 H | 3 RBI | 1 BB | 0 SB
2025 Season: .238 AVG | .330 OBP | .641 OPS | 1 HR | 12 RBI | 0 SB
Jonathan India has delivered a slight uptick in production this past week, tallying seven hits with just two strikeouts in 29 at-bats. He's still struggling to generate power this season, with just one home run and a .641 OPS. However, his disciplined plate approach and ability to avoid strikeouts make him a stabilizing presence in the Royals' infield.
Last Outing (May 16 vs. CLE): 5.0 IP | 3 H | 3 ER | 3 BB | 4 SO | Win
2025 Season: 5-2 | 5.01 ERA | 9 GS | 46.2 IP | 43 SO | 1.31 WHIP
Brady Singer notched his fifth win of the season last week against the Cleveland Guardians despite a shaky outing. The right-hander allowed three earned runs over five innings while issuing three walks.
Singer's ERA sits at 5.01 through nine starts, and though control has been an issue at times, he continues to give the Reds solid innings and remains an important piece of their rotation.
