Chase sat out the entire year prior due to Covid. People thought he would be a stud, but nobody knew for certain.

He did indeed but the tape already available was elite. It was pretty obvious he was legit which is why he went #5.

Nobody is 100% but he was a 99% guy.

Players this year I would trade up for to #10.

Stingley
Neal
Ickey
Thibs
Williams

Those are the only guys. I left Hutch off because that certainly ain't happening. The others have a slight chance at least.

I forgot to add that we needed to throw in a 3rd next year.

So my guess at the cost of moving up to 10 from 23.

R1 pick (23)
R3 pick
R2 2023 pick
R3 2023 pick (either this pick, or a 4th and 5th)

I still do it. Odds are most, if not all those picks amount to nothing.

The weird part of Keim and his drafting. He typically sucks at R1. Not bad or even sometimes good at R2 and R3, bad at the rest of the rounds.

We'd be trading the parts of the draft that he seems to nail the most. He obviously misses in that range too, but not as bad as other rounds.

It also makes sense to trade players you KNOW your not going to retain. PP21, Jones, Kirk for example. Instead they walk away with hopes of a compensatory pick.
People here were screaming to trade PP21 and we may have been able to get a 4 th rounder.
Bears traded Khalil Mack. The Packers traded Adams and now are sitting with extra picks. The patriots are another team that trades away all pro players for picks.
We sit thinking we are 1 player away from the Super Bowl.

There’s no such thing as 99% guys. That’s only with hindsight. Peter Warwick, mike Williams and Charles Rogers say hello.

Exactly. Even if you have the overall #1 pick, that person is a QB ...you still don't know for sure.
