The Wisconsin Badgers got a huge commitment from four-star in-state guard Jalen Brown on Friday, marking their first commit in the Class of 2027.
Brown, who attends Wauwatosa West in Milwaukee, is a top-70 overall recruit in the class and Wisconsin’s highest-rated guard commit of all time in the rankings era.
But the Badgers aren’t done yet in what could be one of their best high school classes in recent years. Wisconsin is also focused on four-star Minnesota forward Baboucarr Ann, and could even be considered the leader in his recruitment heading into the summer.
Ann, a 6’5, 180-pound wing, attends Maple Grove High School, and is ranked a top-60 recruit according to the 247Sports Composite at No. 59 overall in the Class of 2027. He’s the No. 2 recruit in the state of Minnesota, where Wisconsin has seen a lot of recruiting success, behind only high four-star forward Ahmed Nur.
Ann has nine offers, including ones from Providence, Iowa State, Minnesota, Oklahoma State, West Virginia, and others. He’s expected back on campus later this month for an unofficial visit, as the Badgers continue to make their push for the four-star recruit.
Wisconsin has shifted its focus to the transfer portal in recent years, but a strong high school class can set the foundation for the program for years to come. We’re already seeing a quality 2025 recruiting class be key for the Badgers, with Hayden Jones, Zach Kinziger, Will Garlock, and Aleksas Bieliauskas all playing as freshmen. While Bieliauskas transferred out, the other three should be keys in the rotation this year.
Now, the Badgers have a chance at another very talented recruiting class here in 2027, with Brown starting things off and Ann being a priority target.
