One of the Big Ten’s longest Frozen Four droughts ends to day.
Third-seeded Wisconsin faces No. 1 seed Michigan State in an NCAA men's hockey regional final at DCU Center in Worcester, Mass. The winner advances to the Frozen Four in Las Vegas April 9-11.
The trip will be long awaited no matter which team wins. Michigan State, which has won three straight Big Ten regular season titles, has not been since 2007. Wisconsin hasn’t reached the national semifinals since 2010. In fact that was also the 5-1 victory over Dartmouth March 26.
The Badgers and Spartans split four games this season with the visiting team getting a sweep in the other’s arena. Michigan State got the last laugh in the matchup, defeating UW, 4-3, Jan. 15 and, 4-1, Jan. 16.
The puck drops at 3:30 p.m.
