Michigan State was busy during a very busy recruiting weekend in ice hockey.
Friday marked an important day on the calendar as high school juniors were allowed to verbally commit to NCAA programs. Head coach Adam Nightingale landed commits from three big-name players all part of the U.S. National Team Development Program U17 team, including five-star forward Jack Trupiano.
The six-foot forward’s commitment was reported by Pucks Prep on X. Trupiano, born in 2010, is currently ranked as the No. 11 American forward in the class. It is likely that he will play two more years with the US NTDP before coming to East Lansing.
Trupiano was part of the Little Caesars AAA program this past season. He was the team’s leading point-scorer with 23 goals and 18 assists in 20 games.

Four-star defenseman Andrew Krochalk was also part of the action on day one. He is also a part of the US NTDP program. He skated with Fox Motors this past season. In 30 games, Krochalk scored six goals and added seven assists. He also played two games at the U16 and U18 levels.
The busy day wrapped up for the Spartans with a commit from an elite young goaltender in Mason Martin.
The 6-foot-3 prospect has risen quickly through the Fox Motors AAA program, putting together standout campaigns over the last few years.
Martin played for Fox Motors 15U AAA this past season. In 10 games, he posted an 8-2 record with two shutouts. He finished with 1.49 goals against average. Martin hopes to be the next great goaltender in line at Michigan State following Trey Augustine and Joshua Ravensbergen, who is expected to take over in goal moving forward.
All three commits are expected to play for the Spartans in 2028-29. The Spartans are expected to remain busy and add more commits in the coming days.
