Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln hockey elevated former assistant coach Caleb Schroer to head coach Thursday afternoon, according to a press release.
Schroer joined Wisconsin Rapids coaching staff in 2020 under the wing of long-tenured coach Pat McDonald who announced his retirement in late March.

He is a school alum that played for the Red Raiders from 2010-2014 before putting together a thorough college career on the ice that concluded in him playing Division 1 hockey for Northern Michigan.
The announcement arrives just a few days before the one-month mark of McDonald's retirement. The Red Raiders higher ups stated excitement Schroer and his ability to guide the young men within the community and program into the future.

"I'm incredibly honored to be named the next head coach at Lincoln High School," Schroer said. "Coach Pat McDonald built a proud tradition here, and I look forward to continuing the culture of excellence he established."
My goal is to help our student-athletes grow, not only as competitors on the ice, but as strong, respectful individuals off of it. We will strive every day to build a championship mindset - rooted in hard work, accountability and character - as we pursue a state title and prepare these young men to be outstanding members of our community."
