Recently, the Milwaukee Bucks were put under investigation by the NBA for their four-year, $64 million contract with guard Gary Trent Jr.
USA TODAY's Scooby Axson wrote, "It is not known why the league is conducting the probe, but if it is looking into any signed contract, it is most likely due to issues related to salary cap circumvention."
Wisconsin Badgers legend, Frank Kaminsky, didn't hold back on social media, "So if you’re underpaid no one bats an eye but if you get overpaid you investigate it? Investigate guys that take minimums or lesser deals when their market value is way higher as well then."
Kaminsky absolutely has a point. The NBA doesn't often, if ever, conduct a probe for a contract that was signed.
For reference, Gary Trent Jr. is coming off his eighth season in the league, where he averaged 8.1 points per game, his lowest since 2019-20.
As for Kaminsky, he played in the NBA from 2015-23, making just $22,722,830, according to Spotrac.
