After the Portland Trail Blazers recently signed John Tonje, the former Wisconsin Badgers star became the second UW alumnus currently with an NBA contract.

Coincidentally, both happen to play for the same team. Fellow former Badgers player Micah Potter is also on the Trail Blazers, but that doesn't mean both will be playing alongside one another this season.

Tonje signed one of the Trail Blazers' three "two-way contracts," so he could find himself spending a ton of time in the G-League, even after such an impressive Summer League.

Potter is far more likely to make an immediate impact with the Blazers, but that's not to say Tonje can't also get to that point.

Sadly, the terms of the agreement were not disclosed for Tonje's contract. It's known that he'll be with Portland for the 2026-27 season after the Boston Celtics seemingly gave up on the 25-year-old far too soon. Now, Tonje will have another chance to light it up as he hopes to appear in more than six NBA games this season.

The former Ohio State Buckeyes center turned Badger is set to play on his fourth team in six seasons. Potter hasn't been able to find a ton of stability in the NBA, but he's at least gotten consistent playing time, including appearing in a career-high 47 games for the Indiana Pacers last season.
