India have begun their tour of the United Kingdom with the first of two T20Is against Ireland at the Civil Service Cricket Club, Stormont, in Belfast on Friday and Sunday.
All eyes were on the India camp during the first game of the series on June 26 as fans hoped to see prodigal talent, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, make his much-awaited international debut.
After a dream campaign in the IPL 2026 season, where he won the Orange Cap, Sooryavanshi was expected to earn his maiden cap in the very first match of the series vs Ireland.
However, the team management had other plans as they did not want to disturb the in-form top order of the Men in Blue, who just months back, had won the T20 World Cup 2026.
After a disappointing loss in the first match of the series, the Indian think tank could consider including Sooryavanshi in the opening slot in the all-important series-deciding game.
