Troy baseball fans only get one shot to make a first impression in the Trojans’ inaugural trip to Omaha, Neb., and the College World Series.
Underdogs on the field among seven power conference programs, the Trojans are carrying the torch for smaller programs hoping to one day be among the “Omaha 8” at Charles Schwab Field.
But the competition off the field draws just as much attention, with “Rocco’s Jello Shot Challenge” stepping into the spotlight each June since 2019.
DON'T COUNT OUT TROY: From last four to College World Series, Troy baseball can't be counted out
TROY-WVU: What time, TV is Troy baseball's College World Series matchup with West Virginia
Created in 2019 at Rocco’s Pizza and Cantina, which is located at 1302 Mike Fahey Street in Omaha just steps away from Charles Schwab Field, a whiteboard at the establishment keeps a daily count of how many $5 shots fans of each team buy. A portion of the proceeds now go to support food bank charities.
This year's shots will be colored red, white and blue to commemorate America's 250th birthday, according to the contest's official X account, which has nearly 59,000 followers.
LSU holds the all-time record with a staggering 68,888 Jello shots in 2023. The Tigers reached 52,390 in 2025. This year, the Trojans will be joined by Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Texas, Troy, UNC and West Virginia in Omaha.
At the very least, Troy fans should want to eclipse the total set by the Crimson Tide.
