With the Philadelphia 76ers down 2-0 in their second-round playoff series, Game 3 against the New York Knicks tonight marks their most important game of the season. Their most important big may not be a part of it.

Joel Embiid is questionable tonight after itching to play but ultimately missing Game 2. The seven-time All-Star is dealing with a right ankle sprain and right hip soreness.

It's been another injury-plagued season for Embiid, who played only 38 games this regular season. He's never reached the 70-game mark, and over the last three seasons he's mustered only 96 appearances.

Embiid has been effective offensively in the playoffs, but his defense has been shaky. The Knicks attacked him frequently in a 137-98 throttling in Game 1. His mobility just isn't what it used to be at age 32 with his injury history.

Still, Philadelphia needs Embiid back to have a fighting chance in this series. We'll see whether he can suit up closer to tip-off.
