Will the Chicago Bears be joining the Indianapolis Colts in the state of Indiana?
Well, we are now one step closer to seeing that become a reality.
Searching for a location for their next stadium, the Bears have zeroed in on Hammond, Indiana.
"Yesterday, the Chicago Bears Board of Directors met and voted to advance our stadium development project in Hammond, Indiana, with the exact site to be selected," the organization said in a statement. "We believe a world-class stadium project in Hammond will transform the region, connecting Northwest Indiana to the South Side of Chicago through the Loop and across neighborhoods and suburbs stretching north of the city. It will bring Chicagoland together and deliver new opportunities to its residents and businesses."
That said, the Bears moving to Indiana is not yet a guarantee, per ESPN.
According to NFL.com, this statement from the Bears came on the heels of the Illinois House not "taking up a measure that would have cleared the way" to create a local stadium.
Late in 2025, the Indiana House of Representatives passed a bill that established a "Northwest Indiana Stadium Authority to finance, construct and lease a stadium," according to AP, to lay the foundation for the Bears to move to Indiana.
As noted by ESPN, the Bears have called Illinois home since their inception.
Arlington Heights, which is located northwest of Chicago, and the city of Chicago have also been in consideration.
