The Giannis Antetokounmpo trade sweepstakes now appear to be trending toward a historic Eastern Conference blockbuster, and part of that may be thanks to one very important hurdle being cleared. For weeks, there's been some speculation about whether the Milwaukee Bucks would keep Jaylen Brown in a potential trade that sends Antetokounmpo to the Boston Celtics. More importantly, the questions loomed large about whether Brown would want to stick with the Bucks or whether a third team would need to be involved. However, the Bucks' biggest trade fear regarding Brown may have just proven to be a non-issue.
Two separate reports came out on Monday, June 22, addressing Brown's interest in playing for the Bucks, citing that it's a "chance to turn the page in his career," as ESPN's Brian Windhorst stated, per Underdog.
"Jaylen Brown is accepting this and realizing this is a chance to turn the page in his career, and that he may be getting his own team, which is something that he has thought about for some time," Windhorst reportedly stated.
This was also echoed by Stephen A. Smith during a recent segment of ESPN's First Take, as he stated that Brown "wants" to be a clear No. 1, which he would be with the Bucks.
Smith also cited concern about Brown's statements that this past season was his favorite after the Celtics were eliminated in the playoffs by the Philadelphia 76ers. He points to the fact that Brown played much of the season as the top option for the Celtics due to Tatum's injury.
