The New York Yankees desperately need catching help.
One of the worst teams in the Majors has a powerful offensive catcher who just earned his second consecutive All-Star selection.
Seems like a match made in heaven.
Except, more likely than not, the Colorado Rockies will not be trading Hunter Goodman when the deadline arrives in two weeks.
"Why would the Rockies trade their 26-year-old All-Star catcher with three years of club control remaining? In all likelihood, they won't," MLB.com's Mark Feinsand wrote Monday.
If the Rockies feel they can contend in the next few seasons, holding onto Goodman is what's best for the NL West club.
But that might not stop the Yankees from making an offer for the 26-year-old who hit three homers yesterday and has 30 for the season.
"But that doesn’t mean some teams won’t try to pry Goodman away from Colorado, and given the state of the Rockies’ rebuild under new president of baseball operations Paul DePodesta, it’s impossible to rule anything out," Feinsand added.

Goodman's trade value may never surpass what it is now. If the Yankees offer the Rockies a trade package they can't refuse, he could wind up in pinstripes.
"The Yankees are in need of catching help; what if New York overwhelmed Colorado with an offer?" Feinsand wrote.
It will be intriguing to see which direction Colorado goes in the Goodman sweepstakes.
