If you're watching the Los Angeles Rams play in the NFL playoffs and notice that offensive lineman Kevin Dotson has a bigger helmet than the others worn by his teammates or opponents, you may be wondering what's up with that.

The answer, in short? Safety. He's wearing what's known as a Guardian Cap, which other NFL players have been wearing in games recently. Dotson wore one back in 2024, so this isn't necessarily a new thing for him.

The Guardian Caps are a cover that goes over helmets, with the claim that they reduce the force from contact to the head. So they don't completely prevent concussions, but they could help.
