Thte 2025-26 school year in Greater Lansing featured Greater Lansing having a girls team capture a state championship in each of the Michigan High School Athletic Association's three seasons.
That included a couple of programs repeating as state champions and another team claiming its first crown in program history.
For the next week you can decided which area team was the best girls sports team from the 2025-26 school year. Voting is open through Friday to determine a winner.
Here is a look at the canddates.
Fowler volleyball
The senior-laden Eagles captured their first state title in program history when they finished as the Division 4 champion in November. Fowler swept Mendon in straight sets in the title game.
Lansing Catholic cross country
Boosted by top-10 finishes by Josie Bishop and Grace Wonch, the Cougars repeated as the Division 3 state champions this fall. Lansing Catholic finished 110 points ahead of runner-up Pewamo-Westphalia.
Olivet track
Led by decorated seniors Celina Sinclair and Emily Peters, the Eagles captured a second consecutive Division 3 state championship this spring. Olivet finished with 82 points, six ahead of runner-up Lansing Catholic.
Pewamo-Westphalia competitive cheer
The Pirates captured their first state championship since 2019 when they captured the Division 4 state title this winter. P-W broke through for first place after finishing as the runner-up in 2024 and 2025.
Pewamo-Westphalia basketball
The Pirates made their deepest state tournament run since 2019 while finishing as the Division 3 runner-up. P-W, which fell to Jackson Lumen Christi in the title game, had its fourth girls basketball state runner-up finish in program history.
Portland St. Patrick basketball
The Shamrocks made their deepest tournament run in two decades and capped their season with a Division 4 state runner-up finish. Portland St. Patrick, which suffered a loss to Ishpeming in the title game, earned its seventh state runner-up finish in program history and first since 2006.
