The 2025-26 school year featured several significant moments in Greater Lansing.
We've picked out a few for readers to determine which was the most notable from the latest Michigan High School Athletic Association season.
Through Friday, July 10 you can cast your vote on the area's best moment. You can vote once per hour until the poll closes.

Fowler volleyball captures first state title
The Eagles knocked off Mendon to finish as a state champion for the first time in program history. The previous best finish for Fowler came in 2017 when it finished as the state runner-up.
Trav Moore’s historic performance leads DeWitt football to state title
Central Michigan signee Trav Moore put on a show in his last outing representing DeWitt, running for 397 yards and four touchdowns and throwing for 64 yards and a score in the Panthers' 54-20 win over Mount Pleasant in the Division 3 state final. He helped the Panthers become the area's first 11-man program to win a state title since 2021.
Portland St. Patrick football wins first 8-man state title
The Shamrocks made the most of their fourth trip to an 8-man state championship game and knocked off ***** North Dickinson to capture the Division 2 title. The state championship was the first for an 8-man program in the area since Morrice in 2018.
Grand Ledge's Logan Tollison repeats as champion
The Michigan State signee capped his wrestling career with a second straight state title. He finished as the Division 1 champion at heavyweight and wrapped up an undefeated season with a win by major decision in the title match. Tollison went 56-0 as a senior and went 187-13 during his high school career.
East Lansing’s KJ Torbert named Mr. Basketball
Bowling Green signee KJ Torbert became just the fourth player from Greater Lansing named Mr. Basketball when he won the award in March.. He was the area's first winner since Waverly's Marcus Taylor in 2000. Torbert also became part of the first father-son tandem to win the award and followed in the footsteps of his father Kelvin Torbert.
P-W's Grady Eklund becomes one of area's top all-time scorers
Pewamo-Westphalia's Grady Eklund ended his career as the second all-time leading boys basketball scorer in Greater Lansing while leading the Pirates to their second state title. He surpassed Magic Johnson on the all-time scoring list in a state semifinal win and ended his career with 2,054 points, which trails only Waverly's Marcus Taylor.
Lansing Catholic gets Softball Classic repeat

In a second straight matchup in the Softball Classic title game, Lansing Catholic knocked off Grand Ledge to repeat as the champion at the area showcase. The Cougars became the first area program to repeat in the Softball Classic since Eaton Rapids, which won the four tournaments that took place between 2017 and 2021.
Mason baseball wins first Diamond Classic
The Bulldogs built on a historic 2025 season that featured a run to the state semifinals by capturing their first Diamond Classic title. Mason knocked off perennial Diamond Classic power Grand Ledge to win its first title at the annual area showcase of high school baseball.
