After years of being one of golf's greatest prospects, Maverick McNealy has arrived in more ways than one. He won the RSM Classic on the 2024 PGA Tour and has made the cut in each of his last six majors.

At around the same time as this breakout, McNealy got a new caddie, his youngest brother, Scout, who he credits with being a better green reader.

The two brothers have worked and trained in tandem since the 2025 PGA Tour season, as 30-year-old McNealy rises through the ranks in golf.

Here's what to know about McNealy's new caddie and the golf history of the McNealy brothers.

Who is Maverick McNealy's caddie?​

McNealy's caddie is his youngest brother, Scout, a former collegiate golfer at Baylor University. Scout is the only McNealy brother not to have overlapped with Maverick as a Stanford student.

But the two have made up for lost time together on the PGA Tour. Scout has been Maverick's caddie on the tour for the 2025 PGA Tour season. At the PGA Championship, Scout is once again by his brother's side, as Maverick is on pace for his best major finish yet after Round 3.

Maverick praised Scout's abilities in 2024, after revealing that Scout would be his caddie again in the future.

“And I'm excited he's going to be caddying for me through the end of the season,” Maverick told Cameron Morfit of the PGA Tour. “Talked him into it. The end of (the TOUR Championship at) East Lake. We'll have a lot of fun. And he's a better green reader than I am, so helps a lot.”

How long has Maverick McNealy's brother been his caddie?​

Maverick's brother, Scout, has been his caddie since 2024. The Wyndham Championship was the first event where the two worked together.

Scout has continued as his brother's caddie for many events since, including the 2025 PGA Tour as well as major tournaments.

At the end of the 2024 season, Maverick won the RSM Classic with Scout by his side. At the time, Scout told Golfweek's Beth Ann Nichols, "I tell people it's like playing Golden Tee. I just point and the ball somehow ends up there."

Maverick McNealy brothers​

Maverick McNealy has three brothers, each named after American cars. This tradition comes from McNealy's grandfather, who worked in the Detroit auto industry.

All four brothers were golfers, but Maverick McNealy is the only brother on the PGA Tour.

Scout McNealy​

Scout McNealy is Maverick's caddie and the youngest of the four brothers. He spent three years competing on Baylor University's golf team.

He only competed in five tournaments in college, but made such an impact on the program that he had the Scout McNealy Award named in his honor. It is presented annually to a player who exemplifies a true commitment to excellence in every area of their life.

Dakota McNealy​

Dakota McNealy competed with his brother, Maverick, on Stanford's golf team. Dakota is three years younger than Maverick, meaning they only overlapped for one season.

Dakota won a 2019 NCAA team championship at Stanford, with a scoring average of 80.24 in his college career. He competed in the 2016 Porter Cup as well, finishing in a tie for 63rd with a +16.

Colt McNealy​

Colt McNealy attended Stanford with Maverick and Dakota, but did not compete with Stanford's golf team. Instead, he chose to compete as an amateur while he was in college.

He studied computer science at Stanford and is now the founder and managing member of Littlehorse Enterprises LLC.
