In its Sweet 16 matchup with Oklahoma, South Carolina women's basketball will face one of the top freshmen in the nation.

Chavez went to Monterey High School in Lubbock, Texas. She was a two-time Texas Gatorade Player of the Year and the national Gatorade Player of the year in 2025.
