With another high school sports season complete, The Record is shifting the Martin Dentistry Athlete of the Week series into offseason mode. We'll spend the summer revisiting the biggest performances, moments and accomplishments from across 2025-26.
Last week, readers weighed in on the best single-game performances from the flag football season. Now it's time for the boys to take center stage.
We've selected 15 of the most impressive single-game boys baseball pitching performances from the 2025-26 season. Now it's up to you to decide which one deserves the top spot.

Escalon's Abbott flirts with perfect game in no-hit win over Sonora
The only blemish on Brody Abbott's afternoon was a lone walk. Everything else belonged to the Escalon junior, who struck out 11 in a seven-inning no-hitter during a 9-0 victory over Sonora on March 13.
St. Mary's rolls past Tracy behind Bavaro's five-inning no-hitter
Just 16 batters stood between senior Nico Bavaro and the first no-hitter of his St. Mary's career. The UCLA signee struck out nine and walked one in five hitless innings as the Rams defeated Tracy 16-0 in a mercy-rule victory on March 23.
Nuno's 13-strikeout perfect game lifts Ripon past Sonora
Seventeen up. Seventeen down. Junior Fabian Nuno was untouchable on March 27, striking out 13 in a five-inning perfect game as Ripon rolled past Sonora 11-0 in mercy-rule fashion.
Preap strikes out 12, allows one hit as Tokay mercy-rules Chavez
Replacing a championship team is never easy, especially with only four returning starters. Tokay sophomore Alex Preap continued to ease any concerns on March 20, striking out 12 while allowing just one hit in a five-inning, 10-0 mercy-rule victory over Chavez.
St. Mary's Hardcastle throws one-hit, 15-strikeout gem to upset California top-15 team
If anyone wanted to see what a Mississippi State signee looked like on the mound, Dax Hardcastle provided the answer. In Game 2 of St. Mary's Boras Classic title defense, the senior struck out 15 while throwing a one-hit complete game in a 1-0 upset of Saint Francis, the eventual No. 14 team in California according to MaxPreps.

Being the third starter says more about St. Mary's rotation than it does about Giani Camacho. In Game 3 of the Rams' pursuit of back-to-back Boras Classic titles, the senior retired all 15 batters he faced and struck out 10 in a 12-0 perfect-game victory over West Park on April 1.

River Island's first CIF Sac-Joaquin Section playoff victory couldn't have come in much better fashion. Freshman Cassious Orndoff and senior Israel Fuentes combined on a no-hitter in an 8-1 Division VI first-round victory over Mariposa County on May 6. Orndoff struck out eight over five innings before Fuentes finished off the final two.

Three straight starts. Nine strikeouts each time. Jeremy Cross kept the streak alive when it mattered most, firing a four-hit complete game with nine strikeouts and no walks in Manteca's 7-0 victory over Antelope in the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division III first round on May 6.
Cloward shines in do-or-die start as Ripon Christian forces Game 3 in CIF SJS semifinals
Just the third loss of Ripon Christian's season put the Knights on the brink of elimination in the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division VI semifinals. Sophomore Trenton Cloward made sure there wouldn't be a fourth, tossing a complete game with six strikeouts while allowing six hits and one earned run in a 6-1 victory on May 14 that forced a decisive Game 3.
Hardcastle rebounds from first-pitch homer to send St. Mary's back to CIF SJS title game
Game 3 couldn't have started much worse for senior Dax Hardcastle. Hours after St. Mary's watched a one-run ninth-inning lead disappear to force the winner-take-all matchup, the senior surrendered a first-pitch home run. On May 15, he responded by striking out 12 while allowing just three hits over 6⅔ innings in a 6-1 victory over Granite Bay that sent the Rams back to the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division I championship game.

Franklin finished No. 27 in California according to MaxPreps before winning the CIF NorCal Division II championship.
