Georgia baseball is again hosting an Athens Regional of the NCAA Tournament.
The three teams joining the Bulldogs at Foley Field were revealed on Monday, May 25.
The Bulldogs are the No. 3 seed nationally in the 64-team bracket and will open play Friday against Long Island at 7 p.m.
Georgia (46-12) is the No. 1 seed in the regional and Long Island (30-20) is No. 4.
The No. 2 seed is Liberty (41-19) and the No. 3 seed is Boston College (36-21).
Georgia won the SEC regular season title and then the SEC Tournament championship for the first time in program history.
Coach Wes Johnson said on the SEC Network on Sunday he would tell his team that “it’s a new week. We’ve done a really good job with that all year, obviously playing in this league. …This is just one little step. We’ve got a real big one coming on Friday.”
The four teams will play a double-elimination format starting Friday with games through Monday if necessary.
The Athens Regional winner will play in a best-of-three Super Regional against the winner of a regional led by the No. 14 seed that will still be revealed shortly for a spot in the College World Series.
Georgia did not advance out of the Athens Regional last year after losing to Oklahoma State in a regional won by Duke. The Bulldogs’ season ended in the super regionals at home in 2024.
