I know you hate Cam, but he is going to be a long term piece.

Not a chance. Ed Pinckney part deux. (And while Brandon Clarke likely won't end up being Karl Malone, passing on Clarke in 2019 was still almost as bad as passing on Malone for Pinckney in 1985, and certainly as bad as passing on A.C. Green for Pinckney in 1985.)

I like Saric as a player but he doesn't fit well with our team. We need some more length and athleticism at the forward spot. Keep Carter and Diallo. Baynes is so up and down, and unreliable from any perspective, the injuries and production when healthy, not to mention all the dumb fouls he picks up.

Okobo sucks.

Kaminsky is a worse version of Saric, we dont' need redundancy.

For about two or three weeks, and then they reverted back to the form of the previous 4-5 years. They absolutely need to add an NBA caliber starting forward, back-up power forward (assuming Saric won't accept an MLE type deal to be it), back-up shooting guard who can be a scoring spark off the bench, back-up center (assuming Baynes is gone, which I am all but sure he is, and recognizing that Diallo is best suited to be a #3 center or power forward alongside a stretch 4 or 5), and a point guard of the future (recognizing that Carter is best suited to be a #3 point guard who is primarily a defensive specialist).

Okobo needs to be gone. He looks worse and worse with each passing game and even struggles in the G League. His game is clearly better suited to Europe than the U.S. Jerome looks way too slow and unathletic to play in the NBA, especially defensively. Kaminsky also can't defend at the NBA level (or rebound at the NBA level, either) and is way too streaky offensively. Cam Johnson looks like a #3 small forward at best. And Lecque is at least 2-3 years away from being NBA ready, if he ever gets to that point.

Long term, the only real pieces we have in place, assuming none of them demands a trade out of frustration, are Booker, Ayton and Bridges, and MAYBE Oubre, if we can convince him to re-up after next season.

In my opinion, this only further illustrates how ineffective James Jones has been in building up a roster for long term success.

wow

So, are you purposefully being as condescending as possible to antagonize people? What's the goal here, other than to piss people off?

Pretty sure I was on the business end of a lot of condescending antagonism when I said Dario was an EASY keep at MLE.

You get what you give, friendo.

It’s also a preemptive strike to make those folks so often wrong think twice before they bloviate.

Actually, I don’t get it. He’s crowing about being right but I see zero posts from him from a year ago about this in this thread.

btw, quite a few of us have like Dario for some time. I wasn’t thrilled with moving down and selecting cam Johnson at the time, but I liked picking up Dario. But I don’t go around trolling people who had a different opinion back then. Those actions I don’t understand. What’s the point?

It's funny because Dario is better than any player the Suns would have picked at 6 considering who they were looking. Maybe Herro would've been a better pick, but considering team needs I don't think so.

AND they added Cam Johnson, another need.

I think James Jones knows how to build a basketball team and for once, Sarver made the right call on going with Jones.

Yeah, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by Jones. My only gripe right now is the passing on Haliburton.

I think it was Jones who said in the past that a lead PG should just start as a rookie since they really need to learn on the floor.

I'm not following your reasoning?
Unless we are needing a starting point guard, we'll never draft one. And even then, it's iffy since we went several years desperately needing a starting point guard and still didn't draft one. I mean, Luka Doncic...?
