Big Ten Media Days kick off this week in Chicago, with all 18 teams coming front and center to preview the upcoming 2026 season. Before things kick off, the media did its own job of projecting what's to come, joining together to vote on the annual preseason media poll on cleveland.com.
Unsurprisingly, the three teams you expect to be at the top find themselves there.
The Ohio State Buckeyes have been picked by the media to finish first for the 10th time since 2011, but this time, they are followed by the Oregon Ducks, who sit at No. 2 in the Big Ten preseason media poll. The defending champion Indiana Hoosiers come in at No. 3 on the list.
Here's a look at the full Big Ten preseason media poll:
Media members were also asked to vote on how many Big Ten teams would make the College Football Playoff. Of the 31 voters — myself being one of them — the majority thought that three teams would make it, with 18 votes. 11 media members thought that four teams would get into the CFP, while one media member voted for five teams.
Every ballot included some combination of Ohio State, Oregon, or Indiana in the Big Ten Championship Game. Sixteen people picked the Buckeyes to win, eight picked the Ducks, and four picked the Hoosiers.
