Boston Red Sox catcher Adley Rutschman
The Boston Red Sox pulled off one of the biggest trades of the deadline by adding Adley Rutschman.
Rutschman was on the injured list with wrist inflammation when the Red Sox added him, but he is already on a rehab assignment and will be in Boston's lineup very soon. Rutschman hit leadoff for the WooSox on Saturday, but that's likely not where he will hit for the Red Sox.
The leadoff spot for the Red Sox has been a revolving door, but Rutschman does not profile as a typical leadoff hitter. Recently, Nick Sogard, Anthony Seigler and Masataka Yoshida have been hitting leadoff, but when Roman Anthony is back, he should take that role back.
For the Baltimore Orioles, Rutschman hit leadoff twice, second 11 times, third 45 times, cleanup eight times, and fifth just once. The third spot has been the most common spot for him, but that spot has belonged to Wilyer Abreu for most of the season. Willson Contreras is the Red Sox cleanup hitter, and that will likely not change.

It's very likely that the Red Sox will have Rutschman hit fifth in the lineup. The switch hitter has hit fifth 41 times in his career, and it should not be a problem for him. That would leave Caleb Durbin and Jarren Duran to hit behind him.
However, the lineup could change plenty in the final month of the season if Anthony and Curtis Mead return.
