The Texas Tech women's basketball team is hitting the home stretch of the season and its last chance to improve seeding for March Madness.
The Lady Raiders play at Kansas (17-11, 7-9) on Wednesday in their penultimate Big 12 regular-season game. Tech enters after a 75-68 loss at Colorado, which came after a 87-56 home victory over Baylor.
Here's where Tech stands in NCAA tournament bracketology as conference play winds down:
After previous projections as a No. 7 seed, the Lady Raiders moved to a No. 6 seed following the win over Baylor, according to Charlie Creme. The loss to Colorado did not drop Tech.
ESPN's latest prediction has the Lady Raiders with host and No. 3 seed Louisville. Tech would await the play-in winner of No. 11 seeds Princeton and Nebraska. Louisville would face No. 14 Vermont, the projected American East Conference winner.
The Lady Raiders (24-5, 11-5) were No. 27 in the NET rankings Tuesday. NET rankings are updated daily, so Tech's position may change before facing Kansas.
The Lady Raiders are 3-2 in Quad 1 games after starting 3-0. The previous two instances were road losses to Oklahoma State and Colorado the past two Saturdays. The Quad 1 wins came at Baylor and West Virginia, in addition to TCU at home. Tech is 4-2 in Quad 2 after its latest win over Baylor. The other wins are Mississippi State (home), Utah (road) and Kansas (home), with losses at BYU and home against Iowa State.
The Lady Raiders' worst result was a home loss to Kansas State in a Quad 3 game.
