For the Minnesota Vikings, the 2026 NFL Draft was about adding to an already productive defense by acquiring starters among the defensive line and depth in the secondary. Their first three selections of the draft, and five of their nine total picks, were on the defensive side of the ball.
After the dust has settled from the draft, where does this defense rank among the NFL?
Per Bleacher Report, the Vikings' defense is ranked eighth in the NFL in terms of defense after the 2026 NFL Draft. Minnesota's defense finished third in total defense a year ago, but cuts to get under the salary cap took a hit to their rankings, per Bleacher Report.
Rookies Caleb Banks and Domonique Orange have big shoes to fill on the interior of the defense line, and if the Jake Golday and Jakobe Thomas picks turn out to be hits, Minnesota could find itself right back toward the top of the league in total defense.
