The second day of the CIAC boys basketball tournaments is complete, signaling the end of the first round in Division III and Division V.
Here is the full scoreboard and schedule.
Let's take a look at what happened around Connecticut:
Nail-Biters
Four of the 12 games in the D-III tournament came down to the wire, with the margin of victory being one basket.
No. 6 Wilby needed overtime to take out No. 27 Bristol Central 66-63, and will play No. 11 New Fairfield in the next round. New Fairfield barely survived No. 22 Lewis Mills with a 57-54 victory.
No. 17 Career took down No. 16 Bridgeport Central 66-64, while No. 20 Middletown beat No. 13 Weaver 58-55.
Seeded Upsets
There were several seeded upsets during the D-III and D-V opening rounds.
In D-V, No. 19 Comp. Sci. upset No. 14 Valley Regional 71-68 to advance to a second-round matchup against No. 3 Hartford Public. The team was led by the trio of Calvin Chaney, who led all scorers with 21 points, Isaiah Hite with 20 points, and Nyquawn Jefferson's 16 points, six rebounds, six assists and six steals.
No. 22 Thomaston took down No. 11 Putnam 72-60, and will play No. 6 North Branford in the second round.
In D-III, No. 26 St. Joseph upset No. 7 Shelton 67-59 behind Jayden Febus' 24 points and Noah Adolphe's 16 points. St. Joseph will face No. 10 Bethel in the second round.
No. 20 Middletown narrowly defeated No. 13 Weaver 58-55, and will face No. 4 Stratford in the second round. No. 21 RHAM upset No. 12 Naugatuck 58-44 and will face No. 5 Grasso Tech on Tuesday.
Lastly, No. 18 Torrington defeated No. 15 Woodstock Academy 75-70, and will face No. 2 North Haven next.
Shining Stars
Quin Crowley, Killingly: Scored 26 points, including seven 3-pointers, in No. 8 Killingly's 74-55 win over No. 25 Branford in Division III.
Jayden Febus, St. Joseph: Scored 24 points as No. 24 St. Joseph defeated No. 7 Shelton 67-59 in Division III.
Patrick Rouleau, Northwestern: Scored a team-high 22 points in No. 12 Northwestern's 63-46 win over No. 21 Canton in Division V.
Tavin Royster, Old Saybrook: Scored 18 points with eight rebounds and three assists as No. 16 Old Saybrook defeated No. 17 International 72-62 in Division V.
Justin Wheeler, Terryville:Scored a game-high 29 points, including seven 3-pointers, as No. 10 Terryville defeated No. 23 East Hampton 75-56 in Division V.
Kayden Williams, Vinal Tech: Scored 30 points to go along with eight rebounds as No. 9 Vinal Tech defeated No. 24 Windsor Locks 76-66 in Division V.
Carter Wood, Shelton: Scored 20 points and had 20 rebounds in No. 7 Shelton's 67-59 loss to No. 26 St. Joseph in Division III.
