What happened to Spurs fan?

Rodriguez fell out of a truck after it hit a curb during Thursday night's postgame celebrations, News 4 SA reported.

The 17-year-old suffered a head injury and is dealing with "severe brain swelling" after his friends brought him to the hospital. Citing police, News 4 SA reported Rodriguez was "gone" for about eight minutes before being revived.

Because his injuries were so severe, Rodriguez was transferred to University Hospital in San Antonio for further care after his friends took him to the nearest hospital.

The incident occurred after Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals, when the Spurs routed the Thunder in San Antonio to force a decisive Game 7. Spurs fans traditionally honk and wave flags in downtown San Antonio after the team's big wins.

Celebrations renewed Saturday night when the Spurs advanced to the NBA Finals, but Rodriguez's severe injuries cast a cloud over an otherwise joyous weekend for the city.

Rodriguez was declared brain dead, according to KSAT, which offers a grim outlook as his family hopes for a miracle.
