Andy Ogletree may have lost his place on LIV Golf at the end of the 2025 season, but the American did manage to write his name in the history books during his time with the league.
Of course, it appears that we are in the final days of LIV Golf as we know it. Scott O’Neil confirmed on Wednesday that an agreement has been reached with a new investor.
Despite doubts over how successful LIV 2.0 can be, the league does have experience of reinventing itself, with the first handful of events looking dramatically different to what it would become over the next four seasons.
What happened to Andy Ogletree after he finished last at LIV Golf’s first ever event
It is now four years since LIV’s inaugural event at Centurion, with the field playing for $25 million.
Charl Schwartzel won the individual event, while he was also a part of the winning team alongside Louis Oosthuizen, Branden Grace, and Hennie du Plessis.
At the other end of the field at 24 over par for three rounds – 31 shots behind Schwartzel – was Ogletree.
Ogletree posted an 82 in the opening round and failed to really recover from there. His 75 in round three was his best score of the week.

It would prove to be his only appearance in a LIV event in 2022.
Ogletree was a reserve on LIV the following year. However, he ended up earning a full spot in the league for 2024 by winning the International Series. He was signed by Phil Mickelson‘s HyFlyers.
And he did manage to register some impressive results, finishing third in Adelaide and sixth in the United Kingdom.
However, the 2025 season proved to be much more disappointing, with Ogletree relegated at the final event of the year.

He did finish 12th in successive Asian Tour events earlier in 2026, but followed that with two missed cuts. That has left him 22nd in the standings on the International Series.
Injuries have definitely hurt Ogletree across his career. Nevertheless, it was quite the claim when Phil Mickelson suggested that the 28-year-old is one of the best players in the world back in 2025.
His record on the PGA Tour stands at nine missed cuts in 13 events.
Ogletree is one of the players probably now hoping that there is a mass exodus from LIV at the end of the season. It would be no surprise if he was one of the names offered the chance to return as the league prepares for a fresh start.
