The Tennessee Titans are counting on Cam Ward to take a significant step forward in his second NFL season as the starting quarterback. They are not alone, as CBS Sports recently highlighted Ward as one of the league's young quarterbacks poised for a sophomore leap in 2026.
After showing flashes as a rookie, writer Zachary Pereles believes Ward has the tools and supporting cast necessary to elevate both his game and Tennessee's offense this season. It's an encouraging projection for a franchise that has fully committed to building around its young quarterback.
Ward entered the NFL with high expectations after being selected number one overall in the 2025 NFL Draft. However, like most rookie quarterbacks on bad teams, he experienced plenty of ups and downs as he adjusted to the speed of the game, personnel changes, and coaching changes.
Despite those growing pains, Ward displayed the traits that made him such a coveted prospect. His arm talent, mobility, confidence under pressure, and ability to create outside the pocket offered glimpses of what he could become.

The offensive line continues to improve, while running back Tony Pollard returns after another productive season.
Also, new offensive coordinator Brian Daboll has a reputation as one of the NFL's top quarterback developers. He's known for maximizing the strengths of young passers by tailoring offenses to fit their skill sets. The combination of improved talent and experienced coaching is a major reason analysts believe Ward is positioned for a breakout season.
