Grrr. I don't give a flying eagle's crap about any player's salary. If the player is here, I cheer for him.

I'll trade whatever contract he negotiates for my contract. I think my base was like 34,600 with room for Prop 301 bonus money of up to 5k if I reached my incentives. Greedy athletes.

Exactly what I voted for and if he refuses that amount, then Leinart is exactly what Im waiting for too..

In fact I want Leinart right now.. Warner has never stayed healthy back to back seasons.. Its like we'd be throwing money away signing him to even a 7 mil deal..

Kerry Collins just agreed to a 2 year, $15 million deal with $8.5 guaranteed. Seriously - how much more is a 38 year old Warner worth?? The Cards have made their offer... $10 million per for 2 years (not sure how much is guaranteed)... Seems to me the Cards are right in the ballpark!

I'm in agreement with these results so far! $10-12M is very fair!

Imagine the outcries when and if Warner doesn't re-sign.....the "band wagoners" would be gone in a heart beat. All those new stickers and flags I see on cars everywhere would be gone quicker than a blink of an eye.

But on the other hand, imagine what this team can do with the extra $10-$12 million in cap space they would be saving. They could extend Dansby and/or a Wilson, take care of Boldin and create some more competition from free agency by getting an o-lineman, a pass rusher and some secondary help.

Agreed....I would be happy with either outcome because I believe it would allow us to be a competitive team. I just always worry about dreaded option C.....not sign Warner and not use all of the money to do the things you listed above.

I'm staying no matter what happens. I just don't want to change my screen name. I WON'T HAVE TO, KURT IS GOING TO STAY HERE!

I did.

Matt Cassel is getting $14M next year, the average of the top 5 NFL QB's.

Isn't Warner a top 5 QB?

Exhibit A does not work in Exhibit B

Cassell was given the franchise tag, which automatically gives a QB $14 mil this upcoming season. Hell, that means that if St. Pierre was hit with the tag, he'd get that much. Its not a performance based measuring stick, its just a ploy for a team to keep a particular player so that he doesn't enter into free agency.

With Kurt's situation, he has publicly stated his infatuations with the organization, the system, the stadium and keeping his family here. This is a negotiation and Warner has killed almost all leverage he has with these statements. The other factor is that Warner will be 39 years old when the contract is done. Although he stayed on his feet all season, he is still prone to injury. Plus, who knows how much his game will deteriorate.

$10 mil for Kurt is enough. If they want to stretch, do $11 mil. But not a penny more.

Just because NE is overpaying on keeping Cassel doesn't mean we should overpay to keep Kurt Warner! If winning is really important to Kurt, he will sign for less! :mulli:
Quite a difference in age as well! Kurt Warner will still be great next year, but I'm not expecting him to back up last year's numbers. This very well may be his final contract as well.
