Florida baseball pitcher Russell Sandefer was taken in the fourth round of the MLB Draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Tampa native was the No. 132nd overall pick, which has a slot value of $575,300.
In his lone season at Florida, Sandefer threw out of the pen to start the year, but moved into the weekend rotation for the Gators.

The right-hander throws in the mid-90s, but topped out at 99 mph. His pitching arsenal includes a sweeper and a changeup.
Sandefer made 19 appearances and 12 starts for Florida in his lone season with the Gators. The right-hander recorded a 4.42 ERA, 60 strikeouts and 22 walks in 57 innings of work.
The junior’s best game came against Ole Miss as he set career-highs with seven innings and 11 strikeouts while scattering two hits.
Florida was Sandefer’s third school in three years as he began his career in Division II at Saint Leo before transferring to UCF in 2025. In Division II, Sandefer logged a 5-2 record, 3.38 ERA, one save and a 39-to-four strikeout-to-walk ratio over 11 appearances spanning 45.2 innings. At UCF, he had similar success as he posted 49 strikeouts to 19 walks in over 50 innings while recording a 3.38 ERA.
