When the 2026 season started back in March, many Yankees fans would've circled this weekend on their calendar.

The Yankees are in Toronto to visit the Blue Jays in what was expected to be a battle for the AL East crown.

But Toronto, which came within inches of winning the World Series last October, has had a rough 2026 season. The Blue Jays are 59-64, sitting two games out of the final AL wild-card spot, but needing to jump three other teams to get there.

The Yankees (68-53) currently hold the top wild-card spot, though their chances of winning the AL East are slipping as they find themselves 6.5 games behind the Tampa Bay Rays.
